They handled this all wrong though (written poorly too, look at all the flat dialogue). I mean, it's not so much a storyline specified for the prequels when it's implicitly defined by the original trilogy.

But yeah, it wasn't even some tragic downfall from being this prodigy because he was an arsehole from the beginning. Plus, there was WAY too much politics and bureaucracy involved. I mean, 'the taxation of trade routes' has to take the cake for the most dull plot component for a sci fi movie in film history

George Lucas is sorta the Lady Gaga of the film industry. Still liked and occasionally given a pat on the back for his previous works, but ignored on his newer work and sorta hated by his previous fans too.

It's kinda funny because the Prequel Trilogy has a better story than the original films but the storytelling is a damn mess. They had better actors too - aside from Alec Guinness. Lucas really dropped the ball with those.

Well, that's why I said the plot, not how it was shown in the movie. It has an excellent premise that was not executed well at all.

The Trade Federation was the most interesting part of EP I (along with the duel against Darth Maul and Natalie Portman's scenes in the Senate chamber). The Tatooine scenes can GO though. Also, despite Liam Neeson being the best part of that movie, he was kinda redundant overall.
