Do you REALLY think Gaga independently thought about working with T.I, Twista, Too $hort, Rick Ross, Will.I.Am and even Kendrick and Azealia? I could buy the latter two, but the others? Even if Gaga wanted to go urban, why would she pick them? Surely she'd go to Kanye, Jay and Drake...or at least people who have had hits this decade. It screamed of Troy going through his iPod, trying to recreate the Just Dance ft. Akon and Starstruck ft. Flo Rida to get some Rihanna crossover success.
I also find it very hard to believe she independently picked up DWUW off the cutting room floor and thought of R Kelly, who just happened to be about to release a new album.
Who knows how far it went.
I wouldn't be surprised if part of the drama between Gaga and Troy was that he directed her to create this "smash album" and threw it under the bus when it missed the mark.

That could be totally true .

Pop chameleon Lady Gaga joined classic British rock band Queen for a surprise joint performance on stage at Sydney's Allphones Arena on Wednesday night.
Gaga sidled on stage wearing a comical black curly wig, bejewelled black jumpsuit and lethal-looking stilettos for the hit Another One Bites The Dust.
Gaga and new Queen lead singer Adam Lambert delighted the crowd, hamming it up during their duo on the Allphones runway but she departed after one song.

Now fronted on tour by American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert, Queen welcomed Gaga, a recent Ice Bucket Challenge participant, to their Allphones Arena gig for a high-energy, hair-raising performance of "Another One Bites the Dust."

I'm sure it did go deeper than that. For example Donatella was used for an E! partnership which Troy set up. And I doubt it was Gaga's idea to work with William and David Guetta
The whole album feels like a self-conscious attempt at crowd pleasing and recreating the success of TF/TFM (aside from Aura which feels like a BTW song). I think that's what Troy was going for and I think Gaga was totally complicit in it. The original ARTPOP could have been so fresh and unique

Yes... I mean just listen to the demo of Aura, to Stache, to Partynauseous.... I'm pretty sure it was the direction she was going for.
I still love this ARTPOP tho. Applause is one of her best songs, so is DWUW.
Sexxx Dreams is just .

But I guys said u wanted more funGa and the fame/ monster ga. U got her and now I r not happy. She should just do what she wants and stop clinging to the past. What worked before might not work in the future. JS.

Oh God, almost 1 or 2 days past and some of you still talking about her management
But I can't blame you, there's nothing much to talk about her right now (except C2C stuff)

I don't really understand why people say ARTPOP and TFM are alike
You could say that ARTPOP is a cheap and bad version of TFM, probably. But that's not the sound of the fame monster at all. That's not the same Gaga either.

Troy probably wanted dance-pop like "Sexxx Dreams", "Donatella", "Applause", "Do What U Want", and "Fashion!", while Gaga probably wanted EDM/trap like "Aura", "Ratchet", "PARTYNAUSEOUS", "Mary Jane Holland", and "G.U.Y.".
Of course, there was great material from both sides, but I get the feeling Troy probably did a bunch of shady things under the table to make sure he got to decide how things would be creatively.

Ugh, the nerve in that Bey Vs Gagz artistry thread. Voting for/supporting Bey over Gaga is fine, but acting like Gaga isn't comparable when ARTPOP is essentially the most solo record released by a main pop girl this side of American Life is such a joke.
