Sales are awful this holiday season. Black Friday will [hopefully] push these new releases into higher numbers. If not, that's pathetic.

Higher!
I'm happy for David Cook and Dido which got a great sales with not promo or a hit.
Katy, Leona and Rihanna all got better sales, the positions suck.
|
Don't worry I'm sure Pink's sales will have a huge boost in next week's chart thanks to her amazing performance at the AMA and the holiday week.

The Killers - 150-200k
The ranges are so broad because it's so hard to predict the "off" Sunday and Monday debuts for the albums, and how big Black Friday is really going to be. The estimate for GNR does include the 25k digital sales it got on iTunes.
Kinda low for Kanye isn't it?
And a random snippet: The Killers sold 71k in their first day in the UK 20k ahead of GNR.

When were these released? I thought albums were always released on tuesdays, so how can there already be estimates when tuesday isn't over.

WTF?! It's only seven songs! Two of the tracks also were already featured on Disney Channel Holiday released last year. So, it's only like five new tracks!
|
I freaking hate Hollywood Records! Greatest Time of Year was already on Aly and AJ's Christmas album Acoustic Hearts of Winter(which came out 2 years ago in the US) and a previous Disney Christmas album. So now that Acoustic Hearts of Winter finally just came out in the UK do they promote it in the UK? No. They use the SAME FREAKING SONG to promote their new Holiday Cd!
How is it they can make a video for a new Disney Holiday cd with Greatest Time of Year as the featured song in the commercial but they put so little time into promoting Acoustic Hearts of Winter in the UK that no one even knew it came out a couple of months ago? UGH!

I had a feeling she won't hit 500k.
This is sad.
2 Successful singles, big fan base and she sells less then B' Day.... .

OMG that's a massive reduction from this week last year. The album market is declining much more rapidly in the U.S than most other coutnries

I'm surprised... Alicia was expected to sell 500k and she sold 700k
Beyonce (with 2 singles) was expected to sell 500k and sold 480k
After I say this, I don't want anyone to freak on me!
Alicia will outsell Beyonce overall in less than 5 years

No One was the biggest hit Alicia has had in her career though, that's why she has such a big opening week. Beyonce will probably sell more worldwide

I don't think so...I Am....Sasha Fierce isn't that huge worldwide..she peaks not even top 5 in most of the countries...I think she won't sell more than Alicia WW, I mean I hope she will but i guess she won't.
I don't know how I should feel about that first day predictions...I mean she was expected to sell500 - 550k and now she hasn't even sold 500...482k are still good tho, but with all that promo beyonce did that week in the US it's kinda disappointing, but I had a feeling she will sell less than 500..
And to all of you who are saying that Britney will open with huge sales in the US like 600 to 1 Million copies first week..please stop it...she will never do it....Beyonce is huge right now, has a big fanbase and didn't get that 500k...And Brit sold last year not even 300k with Blackout...we should be happy if she sells 400-500k with Circus..I think that's realistic...

I think you are right actually... Beyonce is more popular in the U.K but I Am... Sasha Fierce debuted at ten I think, eventhough If I were a Boy is no.1. That isn't good at all. Still, 482 k isn't bad. I just hope sales don't drop off really quickly

It has a lot to do with our economy. The sales decline this year was only about 10% down from 2007 until that Wall St. collapse/bail-out fiasco in September...since then the CD market has dropped to about a 30% decline from last year. If the economy is reinvigorated in the next few years I think we will finally see album sales stabilize (but probably never increase).
