The "if you can help someone, help" argument is a staple of proponents of Iraq intervention, and here's why i disagree with it:
1. If the act of "helping" is going to cost thousands of lives, both civilians living under ISIS and American soldiers (which, if it is implemented, inevitably will), it's not worth it.
2. Just because you can help does not make it your business. The US doesn't need to intervene, and the outcome will likely not matter to the average American civilian (aside from the general "defeat the terrorists and it's good if we win!" rhetoric). Simple as that.
I think a more accurate statement would be "if you can help someone easily and harmlessly, help."

I think you need to read more about ISIS. I could be wrong but you may just be assuming ISIS is just some other "terrorist" group out there causing trouble.

I actually reiterated a point you made in my other post. Having the least amount or civilian casualties as possible. It's unlikely that harmless resolution will come from this, unfortunately.
I just loathe that these criminals are able to get away with these crimes against humanity and they aren't readily suffering the consequences. The extremist mentality is one I wish would absolve itself from existence.

So... do nothing?
What would you suggest.

For christ's sake, I didn't want to say anything but I've known Goosey for a while and he is a certified troll with some sort of mental illness (but claims that the diagnosis set by his doctor is too ridiculous to be true.) Just ignore him. He printed my friend's face on several flayers and clammed them on poles all around the place he lives at. He's homophobic, insensitive, and just downright disturbed. Move on.
Also would it matter if they beheaded someone else.. I mean, they were clearly an American citizen.

I've read plenty about ISIS and have read more news coverage about the ongoing conflict than most people I know. They are worse than your average terrorist group. In fact, they are so extreme that in February of this year Al-Qaeda decided to disassociate with them.

If I was Obama, I'd halt all airstrikes and military action immediately. So for right now, I would do nothing.
There's no way to convince ISIS fighters that what they are doing is bad. They believe that they are on a jihadist mission for Allah and they are remarkably stubborn about it. It would be too hard to try and engage in any sort of talks with ISIS.
Obliterating them, as I said before, would ultimately end up creating more turmoil.

I hate to break it to you, but there were probably over 1 billion lives lost do to the Atlantic slave trade. No one is trying to make Hitler out to be nice, just stating a fact that more lives were lost in the 400yrs of the Atlantic slave trade. You can't compare a 6 or 7yr war, to 400yrs of murder and mayhem.

Doing nothing is not acceptable, there are tens of thousands of these terrorists blowing up churches and killing random people.
WHO do you think SHOULD do something about them, and WHAT?

Well Hitler was nothing compared to slave masters and those who participated in the Atlantic slave trade. Remember millions of slaves were murdered before they even reached the shores of America and this isn't counting the millions that were slaughtered once they reached South/North American soil. This went on for 400yrs, so that dwarfs anything Hitler ever did or was responsible for.
This video is disgusting and barbaric, I hope they catch all involved.

wow. you go on this page of a serious barbaric and tragic act just to argue about which horrible thing is "worse"? who gives a crap which one is worse when they're both pretty much the most cruel and awful things to happen in the past 500 years? why would you ever even compare them? all that does is minimize the holocaust which is one of the most offensive and disrespectful things you could possibly do. jesus christ

I believe that doing nothing is completely acceptable.
Terrorists killing people over and over doesn't have to warrant a response every time from a country that doesn't need to have many interests in the terrorists' homeland.
If it's anybody's business, it's the Iraqis' and Syrians' business. After all, it is their land and their people that are being taken over.

That's what I'm asking, what should the Iraqis and Syrians be doing?
