It's probably because Mariah actually had talent and just immediately ended Madonna when she was at her weakest (the Erotica era). I can see Madge being FURIOUS every time she opened up her catalog of Billboard and saw ANOTHER Mimi song at #1 all thru the 90s.

I'll admit her career definitely isn't over. She has a potential to come back, but you KNOW if 'Cheek to Cheek' flops all the Monsters are gonna say that it's Tony's fault. What kinda scapegoat?
America doesn't really care about Jazz besides the older generation, and the older generation either doesn't care for, or doesn't like Lady Gaga. Whoever expects that Jazz album to be a hit is just...
