Hell no! I traveled to Bulgaria, a 14+14 hour drive by myself (was my first time abroad too) and spent a full month's income for the BTWB! I just see no reason to rush right now!
Also, artRave doesn't seem as exciting.
You did not catch the joke
Anyhow, hope you enjoyed the BTWB in Bulgaria. Thats where I am from I was there too
I can't speak for elsewhere, but I reckon the C2C campaign in the UK should play out like this:
- Featured interview/shoot with them in the Times/Guardian weekend mag before release.
- Albums displayed in supermarkets, iTunes banner, strategically aired TV ad and Amazon email.
- Performance and interview on Jonathan Ross Show.
- Release festive song for Christmas, whether it's on C2C or a holiday EP.
- Air PBS special on BBC/ITV in December.
- Record performances for Jools Holland's NYE Hootenanny. Perfect for demographic and she'll shine.
- Albert Hall concert(s) in January. If PBS special aired on ITV, they could possible film this and air on BBC.
- Have Gaga perform solo at the Brits (younger demographic).
If they get the UK embracing C2C, they'll be in good shape.
It'd be great if there's a solo, viable single on there, i.e. Paradise, that she can push as a solo single to appeal to more demographics.
OMG. The very first time we heard Do What U Want with it being Gaga's magically produced first pre-chorus on that Beats commercial. Literally the most excited I've ever been.
When the snippet came I didn't like how it sounded but when the song was released I was in class, put on my headphones the moment it available and nearly cried listening to it the first time
Cheek To Cheek predicted to debut with 90k+ in UK?
That Paul Soundscan guy needs to stop overhyping CTC's sucess just because he enjoys this style of music from Gaga. The album isn't opening 30k higher than ARTPOP there (which had two months of pre-orders and was actually pushed there and had top 10s), there's virtually no UK promo planned and Tony only has ONE UK top 10 peaking album to his name ... What a mess to think it would pull them numbers.
The industry also thought ARTPOP would pull a 400k+ opening and another exaggerated scale, Teenage Dream opening with 700k+.
That was a little bit different? No one thought ARTPOP would flop at first and people thought TD would sell well because of 'California Gurls' smashing. The fact that these predictions are high even after ARTPOP "flopped" shows that the industry still has faith in Gaga's selling power in addition to Tony's selling power. Also, jazz is a different ball game than pop, the demographic intersects with the demographic that bought 21, aka loyal buyers.
