Remember when TV shows like American Idol and X Factor used to produced actual pop stars? Well, those days are long gone. Instead, social media is the new incubator of talent. ...
... Vine rappers Jack And Jack come just as hard with “Wild Life”. The undeniably catchy hip-hop/pop anthem, which includes the unfortunate lyric “everybody hangin’ like a string from a Tampax”, is already number two on iTunes ahead of much-hyped singles like Jessie J‘s “Bang Bang” and Nicki Minaj‘s “Anaconda”.

And hopefully like X Factor, this **** is over soon.
Idol, X Factor and the Voice are very poor calculators for talent anyway. Sure you can find singers, but are they interpreters? Usually, no. We need more artists, people with vision.
It's easier for aspiring artists now to get themselves out there because of social media compared back then where you really have to double your hustle to get a recording contract. That's why the industry today is full of over hyped mediocre "artists" but is very lacking of actual talents.
Talent shows don't want to find the new superstar, they just want a good TV show people like to watch. The talent shows have never really started big careers.
Well, so far the only very successful artist that was already big on the internet is Justin Bieber. All the others never really had hits that I can think of.
The problem with The Voice is that the show only cares about the voice but since when a voice is enough to be a worlwide superstar?
You need stage presence, charisma, personality and a lot of other factors that make you the superstar everyone talks about. A lot of people can sing good and they are far from all getting fame and a career, it's not enough, we need more than that.
The day a show will actually get it, maube they will be able to launch a new artist through a competition.
