It's about time a pop girl who actually deserves this award receives it.
MTV has given it to the wrong people in the past few years, but it's nice to see them making up for their mistakes!
Both JT and (even more) Britney deserved this award. Beyoncé as well. Britney has an iconic videography dating back to '98 and had the most impact on music video television shows such as TRL. As did JT. I hope they include some of DC videos since those are her most iconic videos IMO

The rest though................ Dre hasn't done anything is AGES. Just because he has some good videos in the past (like, waaay past), doesn't mean he's deserving of one in 2014. You have to keep up. Xtina, I don't know... doesn't seem to fit. Rihanna, well... let's not go there

Not her having to perform for it They should give her a couple years till she actually deserves it and then throw it her way.
Justin, Janet, U2, Madonna among many more have performed for it. Britney was one of the few exceptions and chose not to and gave us whatever that tribute was instead.
I think it's great from her part. A medley representing her videos is what it's all about
