Is Meghan Trainor something like an all-around imitation act? The name based on a Trailor nickname (my initial thought when I saw her name), the look on Belly Osbourne, the message on BTW, the video on something like Ariana would do?
She doesn't copy. She has quite some hidden references there, especially in Work. But that's not all - the videos also are and look well done. They're interesting to watch and make you want to see it again.
Now if I could say the same thing about her songs.
It's recreating with her own special twist. She has all the rights from whatever she is influenced by. Her videos all follow a theme and relate to the song exceptionally well.
She's like an attractive, healthy version of Whitney Houston.
