Jessie J feat. Nicki Minaj & Ariana Grande - Bang Bang
Okay, this is a new single by one of the biggest UK singers, Jessie J. Bang Bang looks like her second US hit after Domino. New song has two guests and both of them are well-known in the US. But Bang Bang isn't not only about features. Song really sounds like a big hit. It's merrily, it's funny. But song isn't that interesting. It sounds like a more loud but less interesting version of Problem. Yes, it's a hit. But it's just a hit, no bigger. Nicki's verse is usual, by the way.
For fans of: Ariana Grande feat. Iggy Azalea - Problem, Ciara feat. Nicki Minaj - I'm Out

Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang
At first I was expecting another overhyped female collaboration like Can't Remember To Forget You, but I was completely blown away by the result. Jessie delivers vocals like I haven't heard in years. Ariana's harmonies are gloriously put together. Nicki spits fire like in her glory days, yet keeps it catchy enough for radio. The song is massive in every way. It plays on trends in recent pop music, but does so effortlessly. My only criticism would be the chorus, which basically just holds the song together until the next verse comes in. The highlight: Jessie's runs at the end of the bridge/

Bang Bang
The song is SUPER catchy and fun. First Off, Jessie J sounds good on the song, but adding Ariana was completely unnecessary. The song woulda been so much better without her, but I guess they needed someone to help sell the single and she has no problem doing that. After visiting SYG, someone said the song sounds like a Glee cover, and after hearing it again I can not disagree one bit. The choir or vocal group in the background during the chorus gives off that stupid Glee cover vibe. The song does indeed sound rushed. Max Martin could do a lot better than that.
However, the highlight of the song is Nicki Minaj. She delivered her best year this entire year and saved the song from being mediocre. Her verse was everything the song needed.

I give props to all of the above for trying to create a new mega-hit, but to me it feels like a miss. Jessie J's verse is great. Great flow and good beat. Cute little chorus. But then disaster strikes... Ariana's verse. I don't know what happened, but the lyrics they gave her were horrible and awkwardly timed out. Not good at all! Another cute chorus, and then a nice Nicki rap. The time the chorus comes back around it's kind of irritating and I was waiting for the song to be over.
I really wanted to like this song, I really did. But I don't.

Jessie J feat. Nicki Minaj & Ariana Grande - Bang Bang
I was honestly expecting a very weak song because I was looking at this as a desperate attempt from Jessie J to be relevant again. Well, it is, but the song itself is good, catchy and fresh! It mixes some jazz with pop with rap, styles that represent the three girls singing on it! Nicki got the best part... I was really surprised by it and I happen to have it on my head right now!
Final Score: 9/10

Bang Bang by Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj
The new single by Jessie J & friends is finally here and off with a bang. Jess blasts off in the first verse with power followed by an almost unintelligible Ariana Grande in the pre-chorus. The massive chorus fills the entire room (literally) with its choir-esqe chant "Bang bang into the room (I know you want it)/Bang bang all over you (I’ll let you have it)" with its super catchy typical Max Martin tune.
The second verse is where the problem is however. Although Ariana sounds spectacular and the harmonies are wonderful, everything she sings is slurred/blurred together almost inaudibly and it feels out of place next to Jessie's vocals. The lyrics are just too womanly for the little chanteuse also. Overall the entire second verse was completely unnecessary.
Thankfully the saving grace comes shortly after the word fumbling of little chanteuse when Nicki comes in with "It’s Myx Moscato/It’s frizz in a bottle". The flow, the speed and the timbre of it all makes up for the mistakes mentioned earlier.
Overall the production is bombastic and exciting, the lyrics are catchy and clever and although the midsection of the song is lackluster, it's made up for by the rest of the piece. Very impressive song.

Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang: 3/10
This is one of the most unnecessary tracks I have ever heard. Don't get me wrong - it's catchy, it tries to be original, but as they say: too many cooks spoil the broth. Turning this into a collaboration is the definition of doing the most.
If Jessie had kept this as her own song, it would have been perfectly fine. Her voice is strong enough to carry a song of this calibre, and she could have put her own stamp on it. Instead, they added Ariana Grande, another vocal powerhouse, who does not bring anything new or interesting to the track because she delivers her parts in the same style as Jessie (except for maybe an even bigger tendency to oversing). And then out of nowhere comes a random Nicki verse, whose connection to the song I still cannot find. Usually, her raps slay and are the highlight of any song she is featured on, but here the only reason she stands out is because she just does not seem to fit in. It is not the type of song that actually calls for a rap verse.
It is obvious that the sole intention behind this song is commercial success, hence the formula: likable song + three successful female pop stars. None of the three dominates and dares to make it her own, so it ends up going nowhere and fails to leave a lasting impression on the listener.

 | JESSIE J - BANG BANG (ft. ARIANA & NICKI)
RATE: 9 out of 10
"Bang, bang there goes your heart
I know you want it" |
________Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj are three highly contrasting artists. One is a powerhouse soul-pop vocalist, another is a modern Mariah Carey who quickly became America's new sweetheart, and the other is a no-holds-barred female rapper that you either absolutely love or despise with a burning passion. The average listener would expect this match up to be a disaster, but it shockingly turned out to be one of the best songs to released in 2014 thus far. It will inevitably smash and possibly even go #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The track could even join Fancy, Problem, and Rude as one of the many songs of the summer!
________"Bang Bang" begins with Jessie J belting out her first verse with vocals that have received mixed reviews by fans on Twitter. Some have criticized her for 'screaming' the lyrics, but I think that the vocals are outstanding. She held her talent back during Who You Are and Alive, and I am glad she is finally showcasing it. The chorus is so catchy; it has been stuck in my head since the first time I heard it! After the first hook, Ariana comes in to add a verse to the song with her soft, soprano voice. One thing I dislike about her part is that it sounds exactly like Jessie's section. I wanted something different! Luckily, Nicki, the best part of the song in my opinion, has her time to shine. Her flow is not as vicious as it has been on her other features this year, but that is understandable since it is a feature on a pop song.
________In summary, "Bang Bang" is an amazing song that is destined to do well. Be prepared to hear this song everywhere soon!

Azealia Banks - Heavy Metal & Reflective
Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb
Being a fan of Azealia Banks has been one of the most frustrating rides in the music world since the dawn of time. Those who were enamored with the sudden 2011 ( ) viral hit "212" were instantly enthralled by her foul mouth, spitfire attitude, and complete disregard to what a female rapper could or should be doing. She rejected the concept of a male feature to promote her, refused to work with certified hitmakers, and then decided that being a nice person was too mainstream and fought with everyone. These fights eventually sent her career to a grinding halt, as Interscope point blank refused to release her music or support her as an artist.
It was often presumed by Azealia's fans and haters that she was the problem, so to many, including myself, it was a shock that she not only managed to release a song within weeks of leaving Interscope, but she shot album packaging with Rankin, and promised another music video soon. When the release date for Heavy Metal & Reflective was announced, I was skeptical. When it actually came two days early, I was shocked.
As usual, Azealia shows a complete disregard for doing anything other than Azealia Banks. In the year where a female rapper has hit #1 for a record-breaking 7 weeks, and all the female rappers seem to be putting out softer, pop-influenced songs with sung hooks (remember Azealia is quite a gifted singer), Azealia scans the scene, goes "NAH" and immediately launches into an aggressive, menacing, Death Grips/M.I.A./Kanye-circa-Yeezus-esque full-on rap track with a simple, monotone flow, and a deceptively simple beat. It first appears to have no chorus, but then you notice the repetition of "I could get that," "Heavy metal & reflective" and a 4-bar stanza where Azealia boldly declares "I'm in every city they say hello to the head bitch."
Back when 212 dropped, one of the only other songs Azealia had out was "L8r," a short-but-sweet 1:30 track where a simple bass line propelled her tongue-twisting rhymes about her swag and sex. Heavy Metal and Reflective could almost be L8r's ketamine-and-PCP-laced sister, with an extended breakdown and a far more menacing beat. Azealia's word play is on point here, bringing back the girl who you love to listen to over and over, where learning her verses is more of an accomplishment than a given with multiple listens. Highlights include "I be PYT you Billie Jean you been that ex bitch / Icy with that cicle WOAH, this that next ****!" For the first time, the monotone-flow works, and she truly sounds like she could just not be bothered with emoting to all these basic bitches.
@LILINTERNET, whom Azealia collaborated with on YUNGRAPUNXEL, brings a similar structure here, interrupting a long verse and a short verse with a trippy breakdown, over which Azealia menacingly speaks about fires of orc. @LILINTERNET knocks the beat out of the park, accentuating the simple, aggressive, cyberpunk bassline with motorcycle noises, descending synths, a woman saying "That's the loveliest thing I've ever heard," and enough bass to get blow out some speakers. It's wonderful to hear female rap with full, detailed production that changes throughout the song.
Azealia's past material has been very referential of the 90s. This is the first time where she's truly stepped into the future, dropping a rap track straight out of Acid-Soaked Osaka circa 2025. Is it a new 212, or even a new 1991? Is it going to give her radio play? No. But it's definitely the most worthy addition to her catalog since Fantasea, and gives me hope for an album I had long lost hope for. Azealia proves that there is a niche for artistic, electronic, and creative female rappers a la M.I.A. Let's hope this time she keeps releasing music and building herself up.
VERDICT: 10/10, "That's the loveliest thing I've ever heard"

On a side note, Azealia should use "Acid Soaked Osaka Circa 2025" in a verse and give me some royalties

Heavy Metal & Reflective- Azealia Banks
4.3/10
The song by Azealia is defenitely not a big hit in the making, it's kind of blant and monotonous. It doesn't have the wow factor, although i don't think Azealia wanted to make a hit. It's not really anything new and is lyrically not amazing. The song is at least listenable, unlike Yung Rapunxel. The beat is also pretty good that's why my final score for this song is 43, because it just seems a bit under average for me.
Bang Bang- Jessie j, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj
7.4/10
The song by Jessie J is an improvement from the songs from her second studio album ''Alive''. Bang Bang doesn't have much of her famous oversinging, which is good because it got annoying since it was everywhere on ''Alive''. The song (almost) perfectly blands 3 total different artists together. The song is an amazing bop with it's beat, and it will be a stand-out on radio. Jessie J's verses were lyrically a little bit basic, but vocally she was amazing. Ariana was not really needed in the song, she was vocally on point, but she didn't add much to the song (except popularity). Nicki was the best for me, with her verse being lyrically and vocally on point.

Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang
Jessie J's latest attempt at generating a hit involves two it girls, formularic production and heartless performance. This song just feels like trying to come up with a hit, there is no emotion whatsoever and it gets tiring after a few second. The inaudible yelling all over the track does not feels well, and although Nicki's part is great, it's not enough to save the song.
I was not expecting good, but this is truly a contender for the worst song of this year.

Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang
Please Stop Shouting At Me
While some other ATRL users might find Heavy Metal & Reflective to be too abrasive for their tastes, this is the song that gives me a headache. Jessie J and Ariana engage in an intense shouting match, complimented by what sounds like a completely unnecessary gospel choir. The production doesn't give the vocalists any room to breathe either. This song is LOUD and overproduced and it only lets up for Nicki's (admittedly excellent) verse. The lyrics are horrendous and cliche, and the collaboration aspect seems completely unnecessary. I'm honestly nervous for live performances of this song. Please stop shouting at me.
Verdict: 2/10

Heavy Metal & Reflective- Azealia Banks
(don't hate me, because of my personal opinion)
Azealia, never been a huge fan of her music, never also really liked her that much. her music is always way too scary for me, so far the only song I enjoyed from her is ATM Jam. This time she also didn't surprise me, this song is just way too noisy for me, the production is bad in my opinion, it's a very creepy track, which I couldn't see myself listening to. Yung Rapunxel kind of made me hate her a little bit, because that is not music, it's just pure screaming, and that is bad, and this song is sort of the same. She made a mistake when she called her album "Broken With Expensive Taste" because word "expensive" should be changed to "cheap" sorry, I just can't give her high score, this just isn't my song, and she didn't even convice with it. More better music, and less internet beefs Miss Azealia.

Heavy Metal & Reflective - Azealia Banks
Finally, she's back! It does seem as though Interscope was really holding her back. This surprise single (surprising in the fact that it was released) is everything I wanted from AB on Broke With Expensive Taste. While I'm still certainly not a fan of the artist as a person, I can still appreciate much of music. Many have focused on her monotone delivery not working in some of her other recent work; hover on Heavy Metal & Reflective is only adds to the drug-fueledness of it. The production is top-notch and I'm quite looking forward to the visuals to match. Puts me in a 2 and a half minute trance, which comes to my only problem: it could've been longer. Highlight is the spoken word section towards the end - like I'm gonna deliver an address to some apocalyptic parliament.

"Bang Bang" - Jessie J feat. Nicki Minaj & Ariana Grande
9/10
"Bang bang into the room (I know you want it)/Bang bang all over you (I'll let you have it)" Jessie J sings over a clashing loud instrumental. This song features Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, both U.S. superstars in their own respect and the reason why they are featured is for success. There is nothing wrong with this as Jessie J is trying to re-establish herself in the U.S. after a successful Who You Are era and a Alive era that was not part of the U.S.. This song is certainly the one to do it. Her vocals are one of the highlights of the track and Nicki has one of her best rap verses ever. In my opinion, Jessie J is one of the most underrating singers and artist today and this just had me grooving on the first listen. I can't wait to see what comes next from this era.
"Heavy Metal and Reflective" - Azealia Banks
6/10
I never listed to one Azealia Banks songs until this one. After listening to a few of her other songs after this, I have learned she does not suit my taste. However, I do respect her as a artist as she is unique and different from other female rappers. There is just something that is flat about this track to me. I think her vocals don't come through enough and the writing is a bit sloppy at times. However, now that she has established her own label, I wish her the best and may give her a album a chance.

Bang Bang - Jessie J feat. Nicki Minaj & Ariana Grande
I'm fairly certain that this is what hell sounds like. Even Nicki's spitting and Ariana's talent can't save it. The verses are horrendous, the chorus is even worse, and it doesn't get good until And like, whose idea was it to through a choir in there? This song is the reason why I don't listen to the radio. I cannot overstate how horrendous it is. It makes me physically sick to my stomach. The production is bad, the lyrics are bad, the screeching is bad. In fact, it doesn't get good until 3:20. Dear Jessie J: stop. Just stop.

Jessie J & Nicki Minaj & Ariana Grande - Bang Bang!
This song lives up to the title in every possible way! Bang is explosive and a huge song! A lot of people call this song "noisy" or "loud" but when you have stars using their mediocre vocals then you aren't used to perfection! You have powerhouse vocalist Jessie J and Ariana Grande! Their voices synch in perfect harmony and the choir belting the chorus takes us to CHURCH! Their melodies also send you heaven. The you have a rap goddess on the track and her name is Nicki Minaj! She comes through clutch w/ her flow and proves she won't stick out like a sore thumb. She's rhyming faster than a cheetah and no one can stop her then leads us to Jessie's professional vocal run! Then the song ends on a bang!
