Charli XCX for Elle Magazine

Charli XCX covered Elle Magazine's august issue as part of her promotion for her single 'Tokyo Lights' as well as for her previous single 'Alone in the Dark' and finally her #2 debuting album 'Devour My Heart'. Here's the interview she did with Elle Magazine
So Charli, You're album 'Devour My Heart' debuted at #2 and sold nearly 400 thousand copies in just a week! How do you feel?
Proud... yeah proud. You know, I'm not used to being a big seller, so when I had my album do this well, I was just amazed. The album was also a way to say thank you to my fans, since they've been supporting me even before I got big with 'Fancy' or 'Boom Clap' and now 'Alone in the Dark'.
Let's talk about 'Alone in the Dark', this song is your best selling solo song, can you tel us what's it about?
Well I've said many times that 'Alone in the Dark' is a break up song about how people feel after breaking up you know what I mean? You feel like you now are alone in the Dark.
Tokyo Lights, is your brand new single can you talk to us about it?
Well it's the second song I wrote which ended up on the album after 'SuperLove'. I've worked on it with Patrik Berger and Ariel Rechtshaid, immediately after I wrote it. It was written in like.. 15 minutes? Yeah the whole base of the song was written in 1 minutes. I kept on recording vocals the rest of the day and the day after I wanted it to be perfect! And that's how it turned out to be, it's my favorite track on the album!
Fashion-wise you are evolving. You used to wear mostly skirts and regular tops and now you're also wearing more Couture gowns or outfits, why did you start changing your fashion choices?
Well Because even though I wanted to keep the 'True Romance' vibe in my fashion, I also wanted to move on in a sort of way, I wanted a more chic era even though it keeps a certain amount of 'True Romance' vibe.
There's been rumors you are working with Coty on a brand new perfume, how true are those rumors?
They are true. But it's not coming anytime soon, you guys will have to wait and see for at least a month.
How was working with The Blonds, RedBull and Chupa Chups?
Amazing! I can't believe I had so much fun working with those 3 brands, all from different sectors! The blonds gave me the opportunity to be their face of their amazing clothing brand, RedBull had me perform at different events, be on their cans and on billboards while Chupa Chups made me design my own flavor, being sold everywhere already!
There's this track on Rita Ora's brand new album where you're featured on!
Yeah, it's an amazing track, I worked with Rita on it right after the #FREETHENIPPLE convention. I was writing some songs right before leaving for the studio, and Rita came to say goodbye and she asked me what I was working on. She seemed also interested to work with me so we chose some of the verses that would fit the song and I recorded them! It was an amazing night, we spent it drinking a few cups of wine, recording music and just having some fun. She's great t hang out with.
Recent albums that you bought?
Kylie Minogue's Distant Days, Britney Spears' American Dream, Azealia Banks' Reborn, Taylor Swift's Coven 13 EP.

G.R.L. Performances for 7/24/2014; Part I
Total Television Takeover: Morning (5 articles)
G.R.L. on Good Morning America
3+ paragraphs; 455 words
G.R.L. appeared on Good Morning America this morning, July 24th, 2014, as a final start to the promotion of their latest (buzz) single, "Free". The girl group, consisting of the five members Lauren Bennett, Simone Battle, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen, showed up, dressed in white ensembles that seemed coordinated with each other but definitely not matching, with Bennett wearing an airy, semi-translucent white dress; Battle in bleached-white denim shorts and a white halter top; Estrada in a figure-hugging white minidress and white wristcuffs; Slayton in a white blazer without a shirt and a flowing white skirt; and van Oppen in white tights and a torn white t-shirt.
The five went on the show to explain a large-scale promotion plan they had planned for the week and were executing today, known as the "Total Television Takeover", which was recorded over the last week and finally debuted today: The girls were to appear on fourteen TV shows (including this one) to perform their song "Free" in order to take the industry by surprise with their massive amounts of performances. The 14 programs, listed as Good Morning America, the Today Show, the Talk, Live! with Kelly and Michael, the View, American Idol, the X-Factor, America's Got Talent, the Voice, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the David Letterman Show, the Jay Leno Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon, would all premiere their G.R.L.-related episodes today upon their usual scheduled time.
The girls simply stopped by to explain the concept behind the Total Television Takeover (TTT), and then to perform their single "Free", produced by hitmaker Dr. Luke. As the first ever live performance of the song, ratings for Good Morning America were huge to see the performance, and unlike the regular electropop production of the song, the girls performed a stripped-down version, featuring a general electronica production that maintained a laid-back tempo with several acoustic elements, including a piano (which was played by Battle). The girls showed off their immense vocal power over the minimal instrumental, until the final chorus suddenly erupted into the normal electro instrumental it had in the regular version of the song, where the girls leaped up to dance to it, with van Oppen showing off her professional-trained dancing skills including a sideways high-kick and two splits before the song came to a quick ending.
The girls were praised by the hosts of Good Morning America for the amazing performance before they left, announcing their next appearance as part of TTT would be on the Today Show. It was later revealed that ratings were at an all-time high for the episode, raking in an estimated 11m~ viewers for the day.
G.R.L. on the Today Show
3+ paragraphs; 438 words
Continuing their Total Television Takeover, G.R.L. appeared on the Today Show this morning, featuring new outfits (as each episode was recorded separately, despite the girls seeming as if they have to rush from each episode to the next; this was explained by Lauren Bennett that it was done purposely to make it seem as if the TTT occurred live), with all the girls featuring outfits made out of leather and various strips of the American Flag. The girls went on to explain that "Free" was a buzz single, and that the true lead single of theirs was to come out within the next week or two. Paula van Oppen attempted to explain more about the official lead single, but she was immediately silenced by Emmalyn Estrada and Simone Battle, as Natasha Slayton sang the chorus of their song "Vacation" acapella as a brief distraction.
The girls then went on to explain the concept of their Total Television Takeover, for new viewers who were just beginning to view, saying they recorded appearances of themselves on 14 TV shows in the past week to debut today as massive promotion for their single, "Free". They then listed the 14 TV shows as the following: Good Morning America, the Today Show, the Talk, Live! with Kelly and Michael, the View, American Idol, the X-Factor, America's Got Talent, the Voice, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the David Letterman Show, the Jay Leno Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon.
The girls went on to perform "Free", stripped down, almost in the exact same way as they did previously on Good Morning America, though this one was noticeably different due to the last chorus not returning to the dance-electro instrumental, this one retaining its new wave/electronica production throughout, with Battle playing the piano live. The final chorus in this version erupted, but in a different way, featuring strings on the production and a sawtooth wave bassline, and a mild thump for a drum that barely seemed there. Battle's piano continued to grow as the girls continued to sing together, with Slayton breaking out into ad-lib harmonies to show off her powerhouse vocals.
After the performance, the girls seemed confident with themselves, and van Oppen insisted on showing off her dancing, resulting in her demonstrating a breakdancing routine as the studio version of "Free" played over speakers. Despite Battle, Estrada and Slayton seeming excited to watch van Oppen dance, Bennett seemed rather annoyed, and quickly ended the routine to announce they would be leaving the Today Show now, and would make their next appearance on the Talk.
G.R.L. on the Talk
3 paragraphs; 428 words
As the third appearance for G.R.L. and their Total Television Takeover (TTT), the group appeared on the Talk alongside the show's usual hosts. The girls went on to discuss a variety of topics with the main hosts, including discussing the tactics of their producer, Dr. Luke. When asked how they felt of his similar formula used on various songs, Lauren Bennett took control to answer: "At least they're all good." On the same topic of Dr. Luke, Simone Battle also mentioned that they had several songs produced by him recorded, including "Free" and two others, though she also mentioned they were continuing to record with him. Emmalyn Estrada also announced that they were going to the studio to record after this episode was recorded.
Yet again, as done with the previous two episodes, the girls explained their Total Television Takeover for new viewers who were unaware of what was going on. Bennett, who officially announced herself as the frontwoman (at least during the TTT), went on to explain how they were to appear on 14 different TV shows, and listed them all (Good Morning America, the Today Show, the Talk, Live! with Kelly and Michael, the View, American Idol, the X-Factor, America's Got Talent, the Voice, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the David Letterman Show, the Jay Leno Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon) as well. Some of the women on the Talk were shocked that all fourteen shows would appear at the same day, and Bennett went on, laughing, stating that they usually wouldn't, and the TTT was a massive exception.
And finally, as routine, the girls went on to perform "Free", performing the version performed previously on the Today Show. The girls continued their usual harmonization of voices, with both Battle and Natasha Slayton providing ad-libs throughout the various choruses of the songs. After finishing their performance, Emmalyn Estrada went on to explain their different versions of the song, stating that the first one used during Good Morning America was a rough edit, and the version performed on the last two shows as the official version of this "edit", and that it would appear on a remix EP for "Free". She stated that this version would be used during the "morning" shows of the Total Television Takeover, then the regular version of the song (possibly with some small altercations) would be performed during the "mid-day" shows, then a final acoustic version would be performed during "late" shows. The girls then left, after thanking their hosts for having them.
G.R.L. on Live! with Kelly and Michael
3 paragraphs; 453 words
For the second-to-last appearance of the "morning" TV shows for their Total Television Takeover, G.R.L. appeared on Live! with Kelly and Michael. The girls had a whole few segments dedicated to time with them on the show, where they were interviewed by Kelly and Michael (of course), where they officially announced that they were going to release an EP within the next few weeks as a teaser for their full, debut album. Viewers were excited, with the Twitter hashtag "#GRLEP" began trending soon after. The girls also explained that they had worked with producers Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Darkchild, Lukas Hilbert, Cirkut, Kool Kojak, the Smeezingtons, StarGate and Ryan Tedder for the album and EP, but stated that not all of said producers would appear on the EP, but all would definitely appear for the main album. Simone Battle also revealed, to everyone's disappointment, that they weren't allowed to reveal the titles of either the EP or the album yet.
And, of course, for the fourth time this morning, the girls (this time, Natasha Slayton did the honors) explained the Total Television Takeover, explaining that this short appearance on Kelly and Michael's show was only one stop on their 14-show appearance list for the day (with the full list being Good Morning America, the Today Show, the Talk, Live! with Kelly and Michael, the View, American Idol, the X-Factor, America's Got Talent, the Voice, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the David Letterman Show, the Jay Leno Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon, in that exact order throughout the day; this would mean the View was next, as the final performance of their morning shows, before they would move on to their mid-day show times). Paula van Oppen stated she was excited for the mid-day shows, as they allowed her to show off her dancing skills further. Lauren Bennett grunted after this comment.
The girls spent a few segments with Kelly and Michael, including a cooking segment where each of the girls shared their favorite breakfast foods & recipes, including eggs Benedict, Greek omelettes and frittatas. After cooking, the girls went on to perform the stripped-down (but not acoustic) version of "Free", as usual, with Emmalyn Estrada playing the piano alongside Simone Battle this time as the girls continued their usual vocal strides. However, as arranged due to her being snubbed several times during recording sessions, Slayton was allowed to sing the middle 8 alone, which she did, showing off her absolutely amazing vocals and leading viewers to wonder why they rarely gave her solo parts in their songs. The girls then finished their performance, and left, giving Kelly and Michael hugs as they went on.
G.R.L. on the View
3 paragraphs; 385 words
As the last performance of their "morning TV" performances, G.R.L. appeared on the View this morning alongside its usual hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy, bringing the panel up to 8 hosts for the episode. The girls were interviewed along various topics that one would expect to be asked of a music group, including their upcoming work and how they managed to get into the business. At one memorable moment, Lauren Bennett lashed out (vocally) at Paula van Oppen for bragging about her dancing skills, and was quickly backed up by Simone Battle, though Natasha Slayton took van Oppen's side and Emmalyn Estrada remained neutral. Goldberg laughed at the ordeal, and things quickly settled down.
As official routine for the Total Television Takeover, a member (this time Simone Battle) explained the concept of the Total Television Takeover, and how they were to appear on 14 TV shows within the course of one day (the shows being Good Morning America, the Today Show, the Talk, Live! with Kelly and Michael, the View, American Idol, the X-Factor, America's Got Talent, the Voice, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the David Letterman Show, the Jay Leno Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon). Goldberg collapsed out of her chair once all the shows were listed, believing the girls to all record and appear the shows in one day, resulting in everyone laughing until Battle mentioned they were all pre-recorded. (Which lead to Goldberg commenting: "I mean, I thought most of these shows were. I wondered if they started putting us on live for a second, because if they did... Oh, lord.")
Finally, the girls went on to perform the stripped-down version of "Free". They then went on to reveal that the stripped down version was in fact produced by Greg Kurstin, with minor changes made by Dr. Luke. They also announced the acoustic version, which would premier later today during their "Night" performances, would be produced entirely by themselves, as it would feature just a piano performed by Battle and an acoustic guitar section played by Bennett. The girls also mentioned both versions would be available on a remix EP set to release later this charting week. The girls thanked the View's hosts, and then quickly left the set.

G.R.L. Performances for 7/24/2014; Part 2
Total Television Takeover: Mid-Day (5 articles)
G.R.L. on American Idol
3 paragraphs; 390 words
G.R.L.'s string of performances and appearances took a brief pause after their appearance on the View, due to the transition between morning and mid-day television (with the former mostly consisting of talk shows and morning TV news things, and the latter consisting of game shows, reality shows, and the like), though they finally reappeared once again to continue. This time, they appeared on American Idol, where they appeared at a random interval to perform, just coming out of nowhere in completely matching pleather outfits so they could perform their single, "Free". Even the judges were shocked, as they weren't informed that the girls would be performing, even though the producers were informed.
Before they performed, however, the girls had to mention their Total Television Takeover, with Paula van Oppen beginning to do the honors before she was silenced by Lauren Bennett, who explained it herself: The girls would "takeover" 14 TV shows today, appearing on them to perform their song "Free", and perhaps participate in various activities on the show that required them (including their cooking segment on Live! with Kelly and Michael). She then listed the TV shows, which were as follows: Good Morning America, the Today Show, the Talk, Live! with Kelly and Michael, the View, American Idol, the X-Factor, America's Got Talent, the Voice, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the David Letterman Show, the Jay Leno Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Angered by being silenced by Bennett, van Oppen yelled "Play the song, then!", which triggered the original, studio version of "Free" to begin playing, and the girls broke out into a dance number in unison for the song. Van Oppen took the time to show off her dancing skills, despite Bennett seeming annoyed by them earlier in the day. All five girls had their various moments to shine, though it was rumored that van Oppen's mike was cut off during the performance due to Bennett, who had taken control of the group for the day (at least), insisting that if she's going to dance, she better not sing as well. The girls nailed the performance, and were loved by the viewers, the judges, and everyone in the audience, before they quickly left the show after thanking the viewers so they could continue their Total Television Takeover.
G.R.L. on the X-Factor (US)
3 paragraphs; 471 words
As the third performance for their large amount of them today (and probably one of the biggest of the performance venues they were to appear at today), G.R.L. made a brief appearance on the X-Factor (the US version, at least) to perform their new hype single "Free". The group, which was made up of members Lauren Bennett, Simone Battle, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen, made their brief appearance dressed in various black outfits, with Bennett wearing a black tank top and black denim shorts matched with a sheer, knee-length jacket; Battle was dressed in a black crop top (and a very visible black bra) along with black leggings; Estrada sported a black tube top with various sharp designs on it and a black circle skirt (with shorts underneath); Slayton dressed in a simple black cocktail dress; and van Oppen wore black harem pants along with a black crop top similar to Battle's.
Slayton explained the concept of the TTT (Total Television Takeover) this time, stepping ahead to the front of the stage to explain that they were to show on 14 various television shows to perform "Free" all on the same day; these 14 shows would then be divided into 3 categories of "Morning" TV, "Mid-day" shows, and then "Niight" shows, with the "Morning" section consisting of morning news shows, "Mid-day" consisting of game shows (with one exception), and then "Night" consisting of late-night talk shows. She then announced the full TV appearance list for the seventh time of the day, with the shows being Good Morning America, the Today Show, the Talk, Live! with Kelly and Michael, the View, American Idol, the X-Factor, America's Got Talent, the Voice, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the David Letterman Show, the Jay Leno Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon.
The girls then went on to perform the studio version of "Free", stepping back into a dark stage for a moment as the intro of the song began. Unlike the previous performance, a light show accompanied the performance, giving a dazzling view over the girls and their dance routine. Some viewers compared the girls' coordination and style to 90's boy bands, though Battle later tweeted that they were "better", in a joking manner. The girls continued to perform, and when it came time for van Oppen to take the main stage, the entire middle 8 (where she showed off most of her dancing skills) was cut short, going straight to the final chorus where Bennett, Battle and Slayton sang at their best notes, almost competing together to get the best vocals in the song. After the amazing performance, van Oppen visibly shoved Bennett out of her way to get back stage so the girls could leave and move on to their next performance.
G.R.L. on America's Got Talent
3 paragraphs; 486 words
The middle performance of their "Mid-day" schedule, G.R.L. appeared on America's Got Talent today. Previously controlled by hit singer Ellie Goulding for a short time, America's Got Talent was only too happy to have another popular act visit, and gladly welcomed G.R.L. to their stage. The girls came out and immediately greeted the current judge panel, consisting of Howie Mandel, Howard Stern, Melanie Brown and Heidi Klum, with Klum immediately recognizing the girls and stating she's currently a fan of them and was "waiting for some promotion for 'Free'." The girls were all too happy to hear praise from Klum, but also gave praise themselves to Brown, citing the Spice Girls as one of their biggest inspirations. Unflattered, Brown seemed rather cold to the girls to show her indifference to praise, even though the girls weren't up to be judged.
And, as routine, the girls went on to explain the whole concept of their Total Television Takeover for any viewers that were just tuning in on the show and hadn't seen any of their previous performances. This time, Emmalyn Estrada was chosen to explain it, and she proceeded to explain (to both viewers watching on TV and the live members before them) about how they were to appear on 14 TV shows, with 7 of them done already and this being the 8th, all today, and that they would perform their single "Free" at all of them. She also listed the total performance schedule, with the shows being Good Morning America, the Today Show, the Talk, Live! with Kelly and Michael, the View, American Idol, the X-Factor, America's Got Talent, the Voice, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the David Letterman Show, the Jay Leno Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon. This finally cracked Brown, who was shocked to see that the girls took the dedication over the last week to perform at all the spots, especially in one day, when many other artists would barely perform at that many places in their entire career.
Laughing at Brown's comment, the girls quickly took off into their performance of "Free", with a similar lightshow that was shown at their previous performance returning during this, which was new for America's Got Talent and catching both the live audience and the judges by surprise. Finally giving in to Paula van Oppen's insisting on dancing, Lauren Bennett let loose and let van Oppen take the floor during the Middle 8 as Estrada and Simone Battle sang before the song returned to the chorus, where all the girls pitched in (minus van Oppen, whose mic was cut, yet again by Bennett) to finish. Once they were done, they were praised yet again, and though Howard Stern began to critique them, the five girls quickly left the stage to go on to their next performance, which was announced to be on the Voice.
G.R.L. on the Voice
3 paragraphs; 373 words
Being the second-to-last performance of their "mid-day" performances for their Total Television Takeover, the Voice is one of the biggest venues G.R.L. has ever performed at. With hosts such as Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Shakira, G.R.L. member Lauren Bennett expressed excitement to be on the show. However, they made a surprise visit, with none of the coaches knowing that the girls were there for an official performance. To the coaches, the girls were just another group of contestants ready to be either coached or gotten rid of.
Due to G.R.L. hiding who they were, the girls held off on their usual announcement of the Total Television Takeover and went right into the performance, starting off with the original rendition of "Free". The girls proceeded to deliver their best vocal performance of the bunch yet, with Natasha Slayton being able to deliver powerhouse vocals for the chorus and the hook. Simone Battle and Bennett also showed their vocal power, holding notes and belting them out like there was no tomorrow. At this point, every single judge had turned around to view the girls, and were shocked to see them, but were also surprised by Paula van Oppen continuing to dance throughout the whole song. Emmalyn Estrada and Battle held a long note together on the end of the middle 8 before the song crashed back to the chorus, which, once it ended, left the audience clapping.
Once things settled down, Bennett stood forward to explain the situation, telling the coaches about their Total Television Takeover and that they weren't here to compete, but were just here to perform "Free" as promotion. Adam Levine said it was "genius", and praised the, before Bennett went on to list all 14 TV shows that they would appear on (Good Morning America, the Today Show, the Talk, Live! with Kelly and Michael, the View, American Idol, the X-Factor, America's Got Talent, the Voice, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the David Letterman Show, the Jay Leno Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon). The girls then said their goodbyes quickly, and left the set to go on to their final "Mid-day" performance at the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
G.R.L. on the Ellen DeGeneres Show
3 paragraphs; 462 words
G.R.L. continued their Total Television Takeover appearances with their final performance of their "Mid-day" schedule, landing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show where they were welcomed by Ellen with open arms (literally) as she hugged each of them. Ellen went on to interview all of the girls, but in the middle of the interview, she herself was asked an interesting question by Paula van Oppen: "Would you date a bitch like Lauren?" which got laughter from everyone in the audience, but seemed to fall flat with the other members of the group. Ellen actually answered "Yes", which apparently flattered Lauren a bit. However, things got a bit rough in the group when Paula seemed to confront Lauren on her apparent distaste for Paula and her dancing. This resulted in a pretty heated argument between the two, while Simone Battle and Natasha Slayton remained silent, though Emmalyn Estrada attempted to calm the two down before Paula stormed off the set, to which Lauren said, "She doesn't sing anyway, so..."
Simone went on to explain the concept of the Total Television Takeover, seeming slightly nervous after the large altercation between Lauren and Paula. She explained, to a shocked Ellen, that Ellen was the tenth TV show they had been on today, and that they were due to go on another four more later tonight. She then listed the total TV shows, including Good Morning America, the Today Show, the Talk, Live! with Kelly and Michael, the View, American Idol, the X-Factor, America's Got Talent, the Voice, the Ellen DeGeneres Show, the David Letterman Show, the Jay Leno Show, Late Night with Conan O'Brien and the Late Show with Jimmy Fallon. And with them currently being on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, that meant they only had David Letterman, Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon left, though there would be a noticeable break between the "Mid-day" TV shows and the "Night" ones.
The remaining four girls (since Paula had stormed off the set) moved over to Ellen's performance stage, where they proceeded to perform the regular version of "Free". The girls seemed even better, and more focus was given to each girl now that Paula was absent and so were her dancing moves. Lauren seemed really happy by this, and she even took the time to dance by herself on the stage. The performance ended rather quickly, and Paula returned to the stage to come up to Lauren. Emmalyn seemed worried the two would fight again, but Lauren apologized to Paula for acting rude to her, and Paula apologized for snapping back, both stating they were experiencing hormonal issues and wished to be cool together. The two hugged, which resulted in the audience cheering, before the girls left, officially finishing their "Mid-day" performance schedule.

MUSIC STATION
Right after promoting in the UK and Europe, Danity Kane headed onto the biggest music market in the world, Japan, to promote their first project released there. Earlier this Summer they made their Japanese television debut on Music Station. And this time, they’re back on the same show but to perform their brand-new single, “Rage” as opposed to the “Rhythm of Love / Lemonade” mash-up they did the last time around. After the performance their EP shot from #5 to #1 on iTunes as well as “Rage” entering the Top 10, with “Lemonade” re-entering the Top 20 and “Rhythm of Love” entering the Top 100. Japanese radio also began to play “Rage” occasionally every now and then thanks to the hype that Danity Kane caused the Japanese public due to their double appearances/performances on Music Station this past month. Before they went to perform, they sat down for a short interview. Here’s the recap.
Host: We welcome to Music Station this morning, Danity Kane!
Danity Kane: Hello Japan!
Host: How are you?
Danity Kane: Good! How are you?
Host: Just good too. Let’s talk about your new album, ‘DK3’.
Aubrey: It’s actually an EP.
Host: Right, an EP! So - why did you release an EP and not a full-length album?
Dawn: Well we’re just feeling so inspired and re-establishing our sound and selves in a way now that the dynamic of this group is a trio. We want to craft one of the best albums on the millennium - so yeah, we’ve got some high standards for sure. And that’s why we’ll actually be recording a little bit of our album in Japan. Just the hard work, the amount of people who work in art and graphics plus the vibe of the markets in the country is so different than the US and inspiring.
Host: Thank you! When will you be visiting Japan next?
Shannon: We’re going to reveal more details for our tour later this week, but we are definitely coming this year in either October or November I believe. It’s going to be quite some time, but we’re very excited!
Host: Your new single “Rage” is out now. Why did you pick that song as the next single?
Aubrey: We picked “Rage” because the song is all about our fans. When we picture our fans, we picture really loving, optimistic and just all-around amazing people that love to have fun. So “Rage” is kind of a party anthem for them, and with the release of the EP it just felt right releasing that as the second single.
Host: Can we expect a music video for it soon?
Dawn: Yes, definitely. Our music video is coming to come out next week for it, and we’re in the process of editing it.
Host: Let’s talk about your old album with Revolution Records, ‘Danger’ - it’s leaking soon but can you tell us anything about it?
Shannon: The album is a complete-180 from where we’re at today. At the time we were very fascinated by Electronic music and more computerized sounds but now we’re more into live material. I remember one of our favorite songs being “Save My Life” - it goes like, “How you gonna, save my life / One the kiss, makes me fade away / How you gonna, love me right / I need your touch, to save the day” and Aundrea, one of our old members really took the reigns on that song. Hearing what kind of music the four of us made is going to be very emotional for us.
Aubrey: Yeah, definitely.
Host: Any other news on “Rage” before you hit the stage?
Dawn: No, I think we’re good and ready to go.
After the break, the host re-introduced Danity Kane as they took to the beautiful stage the the production staff made them to perform their new single “Rage”. The stage was absolutely beautiful. With shimmery streams of silver hanging from the ceiling and extending almost to the stage floor, mystical lights also helped create the aura of the performance to be very magical and heartwarming. Their was one staircase, and all over the stage floor was snow and white glitter. There was a staircase in which the girls used to escort themselves down to the stage floor. The performance was spectacular, but more-so of the usual routine, however Japan was unfamiliar with it. The vocals, as usual, were spectacular and their energy level was just off-the-charts as they were very motivated to put on a great performance. The crowd gave them a huge round of applause and Danity Kane left Japan behind for a few months, where they would return on their tour later this Fall.

Ellie Goulding at the iTunes Festival (600+)
Ellie Goulding came to the iTunes Festival to perform ten songs. One of
them was her new single Asleep and another was an album track from her
first album, Light, called Wish I Stayed. The setlist also included her first
UK #1, Burn, and her breakout hit in the US, Lights.
Setlist:
Starry Eyed
Dreaming Again (CAL 3 2.0)
Lights
Anything Could Happen
Asleep
Burn
Beating Heart
Wish I Stayed
Your Song
Explosions

All the instruments were laying out at the back of the stage. They included a piano,
a guitar and a drum kit. Smoke filled them stage as the live band started playing
Starry Eyed. Ellie come onto the stage wearing a white t shirt and black pants. Two
female dancers joined her and did the same choreography as in the Starry Eyed music
video. The choreography wasn't hard so it was easy for Ellie to sing and dance at the
same time. Towards the end of the song, the lights made star shapes all over the stage.
The second song that Ellie sang was her #2 peaking smash hit Dreaming Again.
The dancers weren't on the stage during this song but Ellie entertained the crowd by
playing the drums during the bridge, the rest of the song was performed at the
microphone stand. Lights was up next. This song made Ellie big in the US, it peaked at
#2 and went 4x Platinum. When the final chorus was playing, lights from the front, back
and side of the stage were shining all around Ellie. The band played Anything Could
Happen immediately after. Ellie looked a bit tired but still sang all the high notes very
well. The #9 peaking, soon-to-be Top 5 smash hit Dreaming Again music video started
playing on a large screen at the back of the stage while Ellie went to get changed.
She returned to the stage just in time. The band was now playing Asleep. Five dancers
were also on the stage, this performance was very similar to Ellie's American Music
Awards performance were the dancers follow Ellie around the stage. She was now
half ways through the setlist. The next song was Burn. Ellie did a lot of choreography
for this song with the dancers so her vocals were not as good. The bridge was cut off
as Ellie played the bongos just like at the BRIT Awards. Burn ended and Beating Heart
was up next. Beating Heart peaked at #9 in the UK and became her seventh Top Ten there.
The video on the screen switched from between the music video and the lyric video. Ellie
took another break and returned two minutes later.
This time Ellie was wearing a black t shirt and the same pants. This next song was an
album track from Lights called Wish I Stayed. Ellie sat on a chair in the middle of the
stage with an acoustic guitar while singing the song. She was just as good at playing the
guitar as she was at singing. At the end of the song the pianist started playing. This
was the only instrument that we could hear while Ellie sang Your Song, which is a cover
of the 1970s hit song by Elton John. The best performance was saved for last when Ellie
sang her ballad Explosions from her second album. In the beginning, there were no instruments
played, only Ellie and her backup singers could be heard. Two violins were playing through
out the chorus. The piano and drum could only be heard when the first chorus ended. Ellie's
vocals were beautiful and so was the performance.
