I can't say I'm surprised. Make an ATRL poll asking whether or not Beyonce should be given an accolade like this, on top of all the great ones she's received from real credible sources this year, the "No" option will get more votes for either insecurity or bitterness. Not everyone votes politically on ATRL so I'm sure many "No" votes are sincere though.

For a video to be iconic (by definition), you should be able to show just 1 image from any section of the video and most people will be able to name it.

There simply is no other video that you could do this to but Single Ladies. It's helped by the minimalism of the video but that does not take away from it being iconic. No other video mentioned has as much iconic things about it either. The dance? VERY iconic. The outfit? VERY iconic. The setup? Iconic! The hand move? Iconic! The lyrics? Iconic!

Whether it's a praised performances or a parodies (everyone from Presidents to popstars to people in their living rooms did it), it permeated pop culture in every way. The lyrics found its way into the shared lexicon. There is a TV show named after it. The list keeps going. There really isn't any other video that can check all the boxes it checks.

They are all more iconic than single ladies tbh. Single ladies had Impact but not that much impact.

Actually, it cannot.

BOMT has an iconic song, but "Hit Me Baby One More Time" never was used in normal conversation in the same way "Put a Ring on It" has been.
It's choreeography is distinct but if you went up to someone in a mall they probably wouldn't get what you're doing if you did a bend and hair flip. If you did the hand-gesture or even some of the Single Ladies moves (especially with 2 background dancers) it will be known.
BOMT costume is very iconic, but I can see people being confused for just being a sexy school girl, not Britney in 1999. Plus, the schoolgirl outfit is the only really iconic costume from the video. The other ones yes, if you know pop music but wearing it to a costume party will not get the same level of recognition as the Single Ladies leotard.

And yes there is a TV show called Single Ladies.

I may not have been born when some of those videos were released but they sure as hell are iconic. In fact even november rain (video) by guns n roses is more iconic than single ladies.
Let us put stanning aside for a whole and be real, single ladies did have a lot of impact but not enough impact to deem it the most iconic video of all time, second only to thriller

Novemeber Rain? I can't name a lyric, a scene, a costume, ANYTHING from the video. I know I am a Beyonce stan and I'm aware my view is obviously clouded by Beyonce but let's be serious. Imagine yourself going to a mall and walking up to a stranger and doing something from November Rain and then doing something from Single Ladies. Which is more likely to be recognized?

This has nothing to do with stanning and everything to do with the meaning of the word. "Iconic" means that it is an icon. That it is easily recognized and represents something. It's not just a matter of what video is popular or not, it's about recognizability. Lastly, all those videos mentioned may be iconic, but the discussion isn't whether they are or not, it's whether they are more than Single Ladies, which has all the bases pretty much covered.

I just did a quick search, and going by the logic of iconic outfits, choreography, video settings and lyrics, Oops! I Did It Again is more iconic than Single Ladies.
I did a quick google comparison, and "oops i did it again" is more searched (and more global) than "put a ring on it", which Swissman just implied was an iconic line from the song.
