Nah. Unprotected sex has become increasingly popular in the gay community in recent years (I don't doubt there's a connection between this and the recent rise in bareback gay ****), regardless of condom availability and education.

I mean, I admit, I get the appeal of not using condoms, but in the end it's just not worth the risk.

Educating people about HIV's effects (or lack thereof) is sort of a double-edged sword because, on one hand, we want people to know that HIV isn't a death sentence and you can live a long life/ keep it controlled with proper care. But on the other hand, when some people find this out, they start getting the idea that HIV isn't a serious thing anymore and become nonchalant about using protection.

And HIV is still a very serious thing. Sure, it can be managed nowadays, but it's nothing to brush off.

Yeah, that's what I love about these kind of new studies. There are more ways to get tested, and they are advertising it so much more now than before, so of course more people will get tested and be diagnosed. It's only logical.

It's still devastating, but education shouldn't just be for homosexuals. It should be for everyone. People still think it's a gay disease and straight people can't get it, so sex education really needs to be revamped for the new age.

I have noticed no increase in pressure on young people to get tested. In fact... I see less than I use to.
