I agree. I hate seeing things like "#nofems #noblacks" and stuff like that. Even "#nofats", is just horrible.
Maybe I'm a bit too responsible in worry about other peoples feelings, but what about people reading that? It's discouraging for someone that may fit in that category.
If someone messages you and they are black or one of the other things you don't like, just let them know
You don't have to broadcast your stupidity.

That's true I get that but we all know that is.
I'm obsessed with hair too and I guess I'm bias since most of the people who have problems with my hair are black people while white people are always telling me how much they love it.

Simple, white people can take anything and make it "classy" and "dignified" or something special.
Elvis is a damn thief but seen as such an innovator lol.

Some people don't even know what a preference is though sometimes. Like you can't exclude something and say you have a preference, because you where never open to the idea in the first place

I agree my old redneck boss (he literally went shooting deer for fun) from my teenage job, thought I was cool, and told me that he thought black people with dreads looked dirty. I told him that was offensive and borderline racist, dreads can be very beautiful and can be a mess, just like any other hairstyle.

It's a little ~eh~ for White people to wear dreads because it's something Black Africans were always shamed by Whites for doing/having - like Afros, big lips, phat asses, stretched earlobes, etc.

I hate to sound like a complaining white n all, but
That's in the past. If a 17 year old white guy likes dreads, that has nothing to do with his ancestor from 400 years ago despising it.

It's not in the past though.
Blacks are still shamed for wearing their hair like that but a white person can do the same thing and not get any **** for it.

An Afro right now. It's been a year and like 3 months.
I'm still pissed cause I went to get it trimmed back in April and he took like 3 inches off.
So I should be longer than I am right now.

What person with dreads is commonly shamed by white people in 2014.
Give me examples and receipts.

What?? that mentality still exists now. Those old people are still transferring down those ignorant thoughts with each generation. I can't tell you how many times white teenagers in recent years when I was in high school. Said oh you can't wash your hair if you have dreads, or you are a criminal etc....... Even people who know better and are in their 40's say the same damn thing.
So I see nothing wrong with a POC not really liking that decision

Exactly and it's lowkey discouraging to me knowing some people eliminate as a possibility because of my skin color. But I don't want those people anyway.

It is sad how the LGBT community (like the Feminist movement) is kinda segregated. A big part of Womanism is celebrating women of color since the Feminist movement can sometimes be exclusive to white women, and I feel the same way about LGBTs. Are people like GLAAD really fighting for ALL gays or just the white ones we see in mainstream media? As a minority group, we should all be fighting together but it never happens that way

Dreads is just a hairstyle most assume Jamaicans and Potheads have though.
If I saw a white person with dreads I'd think they were a pothead too.
