She was in a really ****** place during the DWUW era. The horrible x factor performance, the awkward SNL DWUW performance.
It feels like she became so insecure of herself.
I'm so glad she's in a way better place rn. Asia and working Tony did wonders for ha
It's weird because as messy as this era has been, there have been moments of greatness and glimmers of hope that have shone through. For example, the Applause video, the GUY video, the AMA DWUW performance, the performances in Japan, the Alan Carr performance of DWUW, most of the music, and even the tour are all pretty great and show she can do good things... but there's something that keeps getting in the way that's causing her to constantly slip up.
I guess the next pop era will be when we really see if she has what it takes to put things back together or if she's continue to push herself towards the ledge.
One thing is for sure though. She truly loves touring. It's the one place she can be herself and let it all out without having to worry about her insecurities.
It's really comforting (probably for her, too) that she can still jam pack arenas around the world regardless of how many albums or singles she's selling.
She made it out alright and happy. That's what matters. Hopefully, if anything, she has a tougher skin and will just keep enjoying herself and making music.
This performance is SO Artpop. The crazy outfit, the spastic movements, the sultry vocals, the camera following her every motion, the fans engulfing her, and the Koons statue acting as a silhouette in the background. Something about this performance is so hypnotic and beautiful - crazy since you can't really ever see her face.
I just found out today that people actually think the illuminati is still a real thing and are scared to listen to music by artists who they think are in it like beyonce and LG The GP is so stupid no wonder they didn't buy ARTPOP.

I would understand your point if a) that "crazy costume" wasn't so horrid
and b)The rest of her ARTPOP performances weren't way more "Artpop" than this one.

Which one? Do What U Want was trash, Venus was actually decent, Aura was boring, MANiCURE was boring, Dope and Gypsy slayed, and Applause was a lazy-eyed hair frazzled cocained mess.
I loved going through that though. The live conversations here, with the random closeups on all the gays meeting up and making out in front of the videos.
The artRave was a mess (like most things from the era ), but I'm glad it happened bc lbr it was probably one of the most therapeutic things to happen to her during that time.
The DWUW runs/belts she did toward the end were >>> But I agree that Artrave was kind of lackluster. I thought she was going to perform the whole album actually but the concept was still very nice as it stands. Who else spends that much money on their own event.
I'm bound and determined to make Judas get 200 million views. It deserves it so much - definitely her most accessible and, thusly, best music video from the Born This Way era. It's so close too. Shame she made some terrible decisions with it. Even though it was a terrible choice for a single, it could have done better if it wasn't released on Easter.

I always thought it wasn't given much of a chance tbh. I mean, who gives up on a single 3 weeks after it's release with only 1 talk show performance to help it?
If it was released in early May, with Ellen + American Idol finale + SNL + MuchMusic Awards + Billboard Music Awards for performances, and the video premiered on American Idol, it would've been way more successful.
