Just to be clear, there was no way that Iggy was going to beat Nicki Minaj at the BET Awards. I'm not saying that in disrespect, as I appreciate Iggy and what she's doing. But there was no chance.

But DAMN, that shade Nicki. Like I don't know whether to shame her for going in so harshly or applauding her for going in so boldly. Iggy kinda just got scalped on television after she lost the award she was fighting for.

This is why Iggy had to re-release Work and push it HARD. It will shut everyone up on the "she's only successful on pop songs" & "she can't have a solo hit".

But ANYWAYS, I love both of my sisters and I'm happy that Nicki won, and would have been just as happy if Iggy did. HOWEVER, I have always defended Nicki when it came to her being "threatened" like people always say she is by the upcoming new female rappers. Tonight in my opinion proved that she is. She has been one in the past to talk about loving the fact that she has opened doors but tonight you could tell she was trying to hog that spotlight all to herself and make sure that it was known that she is better than everyone else.

Can't blame her for feeling some type of way though, with how Fancy is slaying and how the crowd reacted to Iggy's presence.

Eminem sounds exactly the same and those videos prove it. And if you're talking about his Slim Shady voice, that's a character. Same thing goes for Nicki's Barbie, Martha, Roman, etc. But fundamentally (i.e. Lose Yourself, Pills N Potions), their rap accents are not drastically different from the way they talk.

Iggy on the other hand has no character she plays. That faux Southern accent isn't supposed to one side of Iggy's many creative characters, it's "supposed" to be Iggy. Slim Shady's voice, Martha's voice, Roman's voice—all of those are put on and acknowledged as so. Iggy however goes around talking about that's how she "naturally" raps. It's so evident in Fancy live when the chorus comes and she's talking the words in that faux Southern accent; it was even more evident at Summer Jam when she began her speech in her faux Southern accent and somehow found herself back in her natural Australian accent in 30 seconds.

Because if it's not good it's going to be an ongoing issue in her career and something she's constantly going to have to deal with.

It's not like people are going to go "ohhhh well we've heard the accent that she's come up with for 1-2 years now so let's just be over it an pretend we don't find it weird anymore, even though we do."

How do you know that? Iggy Azalea is her stage name so she is a character just like Nicki Minaj, 2Chainz, Slim Shady, and anybody else.

Nicki is safe from the "accent" attack now because they were supposedly "characters" NO. it was just her gimmick just like Iggy''s "Southern accent" is her gimmick.
