Sims 2 on consoles was misleading trash. That should have been called something else.
I think PS4/XBOXONE could handle the sims fine unlike the last two gens.

I liked it I had The Sims 1 and 2 for PS2 and I played them both a lot. I think I liked 1 more than 2.
Apparently they made Sims 4 easier on low spec computers, you might have some luck.
That said though, they said "The Sims Life Stories" would be run better on low spec computers, especially laptops, but instead the game required more speed than the original.
The Sims 3 only needed a Pentium 4 and 1GB of Ram (2GB of Ram and Pentium 4 at full resolution).
This says you need 4GB of Ram and a quad core to run the game at full resolution.
I doubt a game that's supposed to require less than the Sims 3, needs a quad-core to run at full resolution, but if it does then girls gonna need to update their PC's. Because usually if you run at the "Minimum requirements" for The Sims, it runs so slow.
A large part of simmers around the globe are cancelling their pre-orders and won't buy the game because of these:

Emotional moods (currently in the form of Moodlets in The Sims 3)
There are petitions to delay the release date until they fix all of those
