I've got a lot of good memories of the show. It fell apart in 2005-2006 though. I miss the old days in 1998 when they actually played a wide variety of music like Korn, Marilyn Manson, Hole along with the pop and R&B stuff. I miss the Carson Daly era and the summer of '01 when I used to watch it religiously. Mariah's ice cream meltdown lol.

A few off the top of my head:

- It was back in 2004 maybe 2005, they were replaying retired videos. Vanessa was outside of the studio in Times Square with this couple. She had them pick out the next video to be played, but before that, the boyfriend got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend right there on air. Then they sent back up to the studios where they played Britney Spears - Baby One More Time.

- Destiny's Child pulling the lever to start the "world's largest flatscreen" which was across the street in Times Square.

- Backstreet Boys and Eminem shutting down times square. At one point, they had to close off the windows because of the insanity

- Having POD, G-Unit, and Madonna all in the same show. (Spanken new music weeks)

Anywhere from 1998 to September 2007 is fine with me (I'm discounting the whole 'Downloads, Ringtones, Top MTV.Com spins)

it's hard to say what the best song to ever make the countdown is....not easy.

I honestly, (if you pointed a gun to my head) Dream - He Loves U Not IMO is the best song to ever make TRL. I can't lie.

The last straws for me were the reformatting of TRL and SuChin Pak's termination from MTV News.

We all saw this coming anyway. The way MTV is going, the whole channel should be canceled and be replaced with a channel that actually plays music videos every once in a while.
