How can you compare Ultraviolence to Prism or Teenage Dream? Your post is an oxymoron because I don't think Katy's fan base has the same kind of listeners like Lana's fan base. I doubt 90% of her bubblegum pop fans will be keen on Lana's Ultraviolence. So yeah.... depending which demographic you're addressing, Lana won't have a mass appeal to super bubblegum pop people. I"m guessing that's what Lana was trying to say?

Usually artists sounds tend to go Pop with each new release but not this record, it's less Pop than BTD (which isn't necessary a good thing) so I applaud her for that.
Other than that, I almost fell asleep twice (this never happened with BTD, I used to listen to that album on repeat). I will replay the record tonight again and see how it goes.
Shades Of Cool is the best song on the album.
