I'm confused as to why people are saying it's "lipped"
"Lip synching" literally refers to your lips... synching your lips to a track.
Lena Dunham lipped the performance. Duh. Obviously. That's the point.
Sia didn't "lip." Did you see Sia's lips? Sia likely wasn't even there. Do you know how ridiculously hard it is to sing facedown?
The point of the video and performances is about letting your inner child and fantasies run wild. For example, the scene in the video / Ellen performance where she sits at a school desk but can't keep still, going CRAZY in such a blank, empty house. Here, the "singer" (or speaker, or "persona" if we're using poetry terms) is dreaming. The blonde person in bed is an avatar for Sia, just as Lena is.

I preferred the first performance, but I can appreciate the sentiment of this one.
Forget about Sia... Lena straight up embarrassed me with this performance. I stopped watching after about 45 seconds and just listened to it instead because her moves were a mess. They shouldn't have ever tried to do a performance without the original girl.
Anyways, I can definitely hear similarities between both the Ellen performance and this, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was lipped. Either way, the Ellen performance definitely trumps this one anyways.

This performance is supposed to come off as live. It's not, at least not fully. That's lipped. Whether or not we can see ha lips. I mean, Mariah turns around and/or covers her face with her hand whenever she starts lipping, but doesn't mean it doesn't count.

I can't believe y'all thought that was live? There is no way she could have sang while laying down. The mic would have made noises because of the movements and still.. she's laying down with her face flat on that bed.
