I kinda agree. The promo for BTW in comparison with ARTPOP was huge.

I remember her team saying that they didn't want to promote ARTPOP like a blockbuster movie (= frontloaded sales) and yet the blockbuster BTW still had more longevity, sad.

See though, this could have worked in theory but you can't desert an era for two or three months because you are mad at a label and still expect sales. And then magically try and resurrect the era after it died.

Everyone and their mother was BEGGING her to release G.U.Y. in January so y'all better stop with making her look stupid for chosing the fan favorite song on the album for the first time after the Scheisse mess
ARTPOP had so much potential but due to terrible management at the beginning of the era and Gaga herself it was almost completely wasted. Things would have been so much different had the album been released under the name of VENUS and with no management issues and dramas.

And that's exactly what they did with BTW.
A blockbuster release and a constant flow of promotion. I mean even Marry The Night got promoted overall more than Applause, DWUW and GUY were, says a lot about the artpop era.

I think it all went downhill when Interscope thought it was a good idea to release DWUW instead of Venus. We ended up with no music video and that long-ass break before the G.U.Y. release.
