No. you kind of proved my point. Because of the norms set in place at the moment, chidlren and people feel the need to transition to the opposite gender, because in their head, they identify with the gender norms of the opposite sex. Should those norms be removed or replaced, would there still be an issue of people wanting to transition to the opposite gender? I think it would be a little more rare for people to undergo that surgery.
