No. you kind of proved my point. Because of the norms set in place at the moment, chidlren and people feel the need to transition to the opposite gender, because in their head, they identify with the gender norms of the opposite sex. Should those norms be removed or replaced, would there still be an issue of people wanting to transition to the opposite gender? I think it would be a little more rare for people to undergo that surgery.

Um yeah, that's kinda how it goes, sorry to burst your bubble. Yes psychological factors contribute, but it a choice. Losing your hearing/eyesight or having cancer is not. No one is devaluing trans struggles, and I support the movement. But just b/c they may kill themselves, does not mean the surgery is a necessity. If you really have clinical depression, getting a sex change is not going to change your brain functions. Also attempting suicide does not mean you have clinical depression no matter what the rates are.

This is called "victim blaming." This is a no-no.

And make no mistake, people who commit suicide are victims, usually of depression, a very real psychiatric disorder. You are essentially blaming people for having and succumbing to a disease that they cannot treat, in this case because the treatment is not covered by their insurance and they cannot afford it themselves.
