Maybe it's because she couldn't sing the way she used to anymore, that it's really starting to diminish the quality of her music. Or maybe she doesn't have her creative juices anymore, that her one-trick love song formula is starting to really get old.
Even Memoirs was a good album because at least in 2010, she could still sing somewhat good. But in 2014, her voice is completely gone, and it's sad because it really reflects the kind of music she's making.
I mean, don't hate me because I have strong opinions on this album. I love Mariah, but it's almost as if she doesn't care about her voice anymore. And I think she even takes pride at lip-synching. Or maybe she's just lazy to actually put up a good performance.

Abel, I'm appalled......
I
.Just
.Don't
.Know
.You
.Anymore
But Seriously it's fine to have an opinion on something, but to say that she sounded better during her Memoirs era? That's reachingT a bit ,isn't it?? She didn't even really use any of her belting in her middle register in Memoirs,Not a lot of melisma or fun vocal acrobatics. She hardly used any vibrato. She just did a lot of "
eh eh eh's", and "
Ayees" ,and it was mostly a Dream produced album. She did a lot straight plain out singing in Memoirs. She didn't show off a lot vocal flexibility. One of things I really liked about Memoirs is that she utilized her lower register a lot better.
This album is
FAR from lazily sung dear. You find this vocal performance lazy, but Memoirs is A+++ in your book...yeah ,whatever you says sis.
I agree that in some spots of the album,it' sounds a bit too much as far as the production goes, and the pro-tooling can be more noticeable at times. But overall I think the production is good and it's more current sounding and crisp.
Also, addressing something you said in your other comments,Mariah is not a "
Bitch"(
not all the time
),not only that but she isn't old either. She's ageing, true.but She isn't an elderly ass woman, lol she's in her early 40's,and she looks great and sounds great(Studio wise).Mariah change in voice doesn't so much come from age(
some of it does) but she has nodules too, don't ever forget that Abel . It's a damn Other worldly blessing that she still has all her range intact, and then some power/resonance.Her tone has deepened a bit,and she has more rasp in places, but that just goes to show the grit and the story of her art,her instrument and all it has been through. She is a true artist, and it shows in her voice, whether it be through singing ability, technique or the " vocal scaring".
Honestly I have faith in you .You'll come around eventually. My one questions for you though is: besides the production and what not, have you actually inhaled the lyrics? How do you like this album from a lyrical standpoint, and emotionally. Mimi put a lot into this album, and I mean
ALOT.
