The only way Gaga can "comeback" is if she releases a pop or mainstream album that gets both the GP and the critics back on board. ARTPOP alienated them, even moreso than BTW did, which is unfortunate because if it wasn't for her artsy speeches and "My music is more important than everyone else's" attitude she actually could've gotten everyone back on her side.
So really, she needs to release an album that collectively is amazing, radio and GP friendly but also a step ahead of the game (a la TFM), and just let it speak for itself.

I agree for the most part. It doesn't have to be next album exactly or the album after that though. But you're right she needs an amazing album. No funny business.

We know Cheek To Cheek is coming, and we know it'll be critically lauded. That'll get them on board for ha next pop record, she just needs to make it all encompassing, but sorry I'd take ARTPOP over a Dr. Luke/Max Martin basic-sized mess.
Looking at the other pop girls... particularly one with a recent and tragic long-form MV, that's the only thing Gaga could really do that'd make her lose me as a stan. Though it's pretty clear she'd never sink so low.

She doesn't have to work with Dr. Luke or Max Martin. I just don't understand how she was able to so perfectly combine GP/radio-friendliness with freshness and originality before and now struggles at it so badly.

She certainly needs to back off with the next record and not provide soundbites that people can use as sticks to beat her with. Put the music, videos, photos and performances out there without explanation. It's unnecessary.

I definitely think C2C will play it's part in winning critics back. Remind them that they can disagree with her shenanigans, but she's still a brilliant artist worth having around.

She benefits from having someone experienced in pop to edit her ideas. When you remove RedOne, Rob Fusari, Darkchild and somewhat Fernando, to leave her with DJWS, Madeon and Zedd - she doesn't have that guidance. It all falls on her to bring the pop know-how, and she'll easily be swayed into going off the rails by DJ's who don't really know how to write smash pop songs.
Fortunately, she's a good enough writer to carry herself...but even the best writers don't strike gold constantly, so it's no surprise that ARTPOP brought a few moments of brilliance surrounded by good-but-not-amazing tracks. She needs to add other writers into the mix to challenge, inspire and guide her to ultimately bring a better end product.

Because she came in at a time when popular music was shifting. She just happened to hit the mark on the trend and happened to extend it. She's also having trouble shifting and actually finding better ways to express herself through music without it being choppy and silly. But at the same time she's very self-indulgent, and rightfully so. She needs to write music about herself without writing about why she's obsessed with them. Art, fashion, music, and drugs are just some of those, but she never really goes in depth about her experiences with them except for dope/gypsy/applause/dwuw. Eventually I think she'll get it straight though.

That's not really fair. Applause would have slayed to the heavens if she released it in 2010. She was the "it" girl from Poker Face and Bad Romance, she could have released anything and destroyed careers. There's a backlash that was going to dent any song she put out; DWUW is one of her best, if not her best single ever. Yeah, the promo was messy, but it should have done much better except it didn't because people weren't here for her regardless of the music.
I disagree she struggles with combining GP/radio-friendliness badly, she's doing as she done before, it's just a case of them not being here for it (though radio was here for Applause and DWUW for an extent, with Applause getting fairly decent GP support in the US). She had a lot working against her, to throw a new album out right now would scream damage control, let her slay with new touring receipts and release ha jazz record for critics, then come back with better material, though that's not to say ARTPOP is the quality of music haters here would have people believe... Particularly Kats who need to remember it's on par with PRISM's critic score.

I actually think ARTPOP is a very commercial, GP friendly album....especially songs like Do What U Want. I feel like the messiness of the era, both behind the scenes and at the forefront with rush releases, no videos, changed decisions, etc messed things up. Also, the whole "art pop" concept went over people's heads and turned some people off I'm sure, maybe it made them not care to listen to the music (when it really didn't relate to the music )

I feel like it is commercial, but not radio friendly for the current music trend. It also doesn't help that the critics were READY to lash out on her the minute she released.

**** a comeback. She's got two of the top 3 selling albums (THREE of the top FOUR if TF/M is split, yes, THREE) released within the span of her career, the first female Diamond single ever, the biggest debut headlining tour ever, and and a shitload more to boot. I just want 1) more great music, preferably faster lol and 2) the stupid Katy Kats / Monsters war to end.

She could have released the best record of her career and annihilated TFM, and still would have been dragged.
DWUW + SD + MJH + GUY + MANiCURE + ARTPOP + Gypsy + Applesauce is better than any other Gaga record yet anyway in my opinion so I'm cool with the critics being wrong.
