So what you are saying she should have either 1) stopped making music/releasing albums 2) continued making albums similar to rated r till the rest of her career?
If the whole thing didn't happen, Rihanna would simply jump from GGGB to some other album with more commercial singles and probably do a lot better than she did with RR
Neither of those songs became hits because of Chris, people bought them/loved them because they were good songs, not because Rihanna was referencing their past
You just have to accept that Chris is not that much big of a factor (because if he was he would also have the success Rihanna is having) when it comes to Rihanna success, it's Rihanna and her music that people want, regardless if its about him or not (because in reality no one cares and hasn't cared since 2009). I'm sure she would be able to be succcessful and have hits even if he never came into her life, since her signature hit and biggest era were before him and all.
