I still see a lot of non-Muslims but from my local Subway which is in an area where at least 50% are Muslim. Lots of Sikhs, Hindu's and Christians in particular. Heck even our bakery chain called Gregs sells a LOT of sausage rolls as well as other non-halal products and still sells unbelievably well.

Imo I think they could lose more profits by ignoring the Non-Muslims if this story becomes more well known than by offering both. Even by offering a small variety of non-halal options would be enough to cater to anyone who isn't Muslim.

I don't know if I'm right about this, but I think a Muslim official prays over the animal before it's killed which is one of the main reasons that Religious people are against.

If its possible to serve halal food and pork together side by side, why do you think Subway is throwing that out the window? I lived in a Muslim country for the vast majority of my life and know how the food preparation and serving is supposed to be done. You on the other hand are an outsider who is clearly NOT Muslim or spent any amount of time learning anything about Islam, and you have no ****ing idea what the actual requirements for being halal-friendly is. I have to disagree with this one Flawfree,

I think that's not strictly true. There's a lot of different schools that aren't that strict when it comes to Halal serving which is why you can see a lot of Restaurants in Muslim countries that serve Halal and still serve Pork and Alcohol. I get where you're coming from but I'm sure meeting halfway is possible.

They don't need to speak out because Sharia Law is not going to be forced on the UK. That's just a dumb conspiracy theory. None want.

Just a question: Do all of you who are against this think the Government should force Subway to only serve certain kinds of meat? That sounds pretty questionable and authoritarian to me. Is a private business not free to decide what kind of meat they serve at their store?
