Rih is not exactly my cup of tea but she has definitely been slaying a lot so yes. Unless she doesn't care about singles, her singles do very well usually. And Katy is the Queen of Contemporary Pop Music so of course she is still standing.

So yes, right now it's those two. Beyoncé and Gaga are at that point in their careers where they are more free to experiment with their music and be creative and that's cool if they like that. I hope they have a huge single soon though. Lorde and Taylor are kind of young but watch out! Same for Miley! They have potential.

No they are not. Even with all the heavy promo, clear channel deals and album discounts, it's still not happening. The shade of it all, Katy had a 2 months head start with her album, yet she still got outsold by Beyoncé with less promo and half the time. Plus we all know she won't be seeing Beyoncé's tour numbers. As for Rihanna, she doesn't even have album release date yet.

It's very evident she simply does not care where her singles chart, at least thus far. If I recall correctly, the whole "she won't have another top 10" that started in 2011 was quickly put to rest by a sole performance. I agree, she doesn't care. That doesn't matter though, even if she did, she couldn't match Katy. Are any of her singles in her career as big as Katy's biggest hits? So the fact that Katy's album sales don't trail Bey's by that much AND she already has two massive singles from the album puts her ahead. The reasons why they're big and Beyonce's aren't are irrelevant.

Beyonce has outsold Prism, but Prism is not even two months older. Don't compare it to Unapologetic. Plus look at Katy's album sales pre-Prism. Teenage Dream has great sales now after 2+ years of hits, but it started off poorly and nobody expected Prism to sell as well as it has in this short of an amount of time. I feel like it's a given that Beyonce's album sales would be better, but they aren't THAT much better.

I'm on Beyonce's side in the Bey vs. Rihanna stuff, 100%. But I'm not gonna let "no promo" pass as a reason that Beyonce should be above Katy.

Bottom line. Katy & Rih sell a lot of singles, Bey sells more albums (front loaded or not). Beyonce grosses way more on your and will earn their net worths this year. Beyonce gets media praise and grammys. Katy's singles get attention so EVERYONE IS STILL STANDING /thread

No she did not. Beyonce knew what she was doing. You think she spent a year secretly filming music videos, releasing the little snippets and blowing up the internet each time, performing at the super bowl, going on tour, etc. and expected to flop?

She has more self-confidence than that. She may not have expected it to do as well as it did, but she knew it was going to be successful. Also, I never said she was running for success. You completely missed the point of my post.

Why are people even mentioning touring when Katy and Rihanna's touring number goes up with each tour? Beyonce has been in the game for almost 2 decades... Let's not act like she's been around since 2005-2008 like Katy and Rihanna. She's had a much longer amount of time to garner a fanbase (who are essentially the ones who go to concerts)

Everyone likes to try and downplay single success, but ask random people on the street to name 5 songs of the BEYONCE album and majority won't be able to do that. Album sales are hyped up to be more than they are on ATRL simply because some girls underperform single-wise.
