The mouth was made for tasting things, so you're basically just tasting *other* people's things, which is well within its specs.

GUI or anyone else, when a movie is playing in competition at Cannes, that's usually a good sign right? I mean they have to screen it and determine that it's good enough to compete, don’t they? Or can a big Cannes-friendly director like Cronenberg get his movie in competition regardless?
I don't think there's a screening process prior to the selection. They select the movies based on prestige, either from the director, cast, or premise. Cronenberg premiered most of his movies at Cannes so he's friendly face. But yeah if the movie is selected for the competition, it means it has the ingredients to be a good movie.
