People could buy 22 as a stand-alone song as soon as the album was released. Drunk In Love was album-only for like what, a month? That hurt it immensely.
a week and maybe even less holding back the release only helped its sales
BEYONCÉ is her Born This Way. It only seems successful but its really not.
Hmm not really. Born This Way feels like an underperforming era while in reality its receipts are actually quite good, it was more successful than any Pepcé era.
I can't believe y'all are actually acting like BEYONCÉ is a flop.
The difference between Drunk in Love and Dark Horse is that one was available before the album's release, and the other was released a week after the album was released.
Had Drunk in Love/XO gotten released and available to purchase as Individual singles, normally like before, the album sales would be less, and the singles would sell MUCH more.
Drunk in Love was still a top 2 hit.
BEYONCÉ has still sold 1.9M
BEYONCÉ is still sitting in the top 25 of iTunes despite being more than double the price of Artpop, Shakira and Prism

XO would've bombed and DrIL wouldn't have benifitted from being the main single from the ~Surprise release album~ and would've just performed like any urban hit. The album wouldve opened with ~250k or so and stalled at 1mil and beyonce wouldve been over
Pepcé's fifth studio album BEYONCÉ was launched in 2013. When the product was launched, the head of the Hive said it "will be to Rihanna what Rihanna was to Britney". Famous venture capitalist John Doerr said that BEYONCÉ sales might hit 10 million as fast as any album in history. Pepcé spent about $100 million developing the product. She did not understand that its price point, well above $10, was too high to draw a mass consumer base. The other major unforeseen problem was that BEYONCÉ had no hit songs and the people did not like it. Pepcé only sold about 3 million units of this failed album.
