Unless it's a huge copying issue, I'd assume most big artist would want to avoid started lawsuits just because of the media frenzies they bring.

For spending almost the entirety of his past 3 years in the US, I'm surprised that he has been influenced as little as he has, tbh. It's kind of inevitable in one way or another. Adele learning more about country whilst touring 19 comes to mind. I think the real problem, rather than a JT comparison, is that he's currently singing stuff that align a bit more with You Need Me, I Don't Need You on +, while the people all seem to be looking for the next A Team, Give Me Love, etc. I just hope that won't lead him into that dreaded sophomore slump.

I don't think that they are even aware of the S and SLY similar. If they were, they wouldn't work together again right?

It seems that the copyrights are only in action when it comes to a lot of money or illegally uploading or downloading stuff.

I'm not sure if you agreed with with what I was trying to say earlier or not, but I agree with most of what you said here. It's true that this point, it's darn near impossible to come up with anything completely original. I mean I'm talking about Ed Sheeran now because I actually do really really liked him, he's second only to Adele in my book. That's why I'm bothered when people try to compare him to another artist whom I like a lot less and say they dislike his new music.
However, I believe such comparisons are inevitable at this point considering the artists all competing for the same airplay, sales, awards, etc.--music was a very personal and unique thing to people that over many decades has unfortunately become a money machine over anything else. They don't live under rocks (okay, maybe just Adele ). They have to know, it just doesn't really matter. Besides, RT would never sue Adele, not only is it not that big of a deal, she basically only reason that anybody even knows his name. Before her, he was just that guy that writes basic pop songs that Ichi likes

He is trying to be original, he is trying to change and evolve by trying different sounds--maybe you just don't like what that is right now. That's perfectly okay. He's as far away from a let down as he could be at this point, he's already outdone anything that would've be expected of him at the get-go, and now is just making his next move up the chain.
