I think its the lack of new singles. + duh people dont buy anymore
The songs in 2014's top 10 have outsold most of those 2013 numbers.

Aren't Dark Horse's sales actually up 12%? I thought it sold 138K last week?

THIIIS!!
So tiring, people saying this over and over again every single week.
Last year at this point the competition was real, Macklemore, Bruno Mars, Harlem Shake, New Releases from JT, Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Selena.
RN, no new releases almost the same songs of last year

Sales are never going to be high like they were a couple of years ago. Nearly everywhere in the world they're falling, and it's just going to continue.

The article accidentally used Let It Go's sales for Dark Horse. It's down 12% from 138K last week, so it would be 121K.

I think streaming has played a part in the decline, but not nearly as drastically as these horrible numbers would indicate. We're definitely in a musical drought period right now, as almost all of the songs in the Top 10 are far past peaked, and no recent new songs have taken their place to keep the numbers up besides All of Me (which is also not relatively new but still increasing its numbers per week). Hopefully some summer smashes can come up soon and start pulling big numbers. At the very least, it looks like Ed Sheeran's Sing is showing a lot of promise already, along with Ain't It Fun, La La La, Classic, Magic, Wild Wild Love, Summer, Sleeping With a Friend & Am I Wrong.
