Beyoncé's 4 consisted of more experimental music than its predecessors, and was released after she had fired her dad as her manager.
Lady Gaga's ARTPOP is also a more experimental record compared to its predecessors Born This Way and The Fame. She also fired her manager who wanted her to make more commercial music.
Both albums were met with a lukewarm commercial response (4 and ARTPOP are the lowest selling studio albums for both artists) and under-performing singles. So is the ARTPOP era Gaga's 4? Will she be able to make a Beyoncé-sized comeback to her peak? Discuss.
Beyonce's celebrity prevents commercial failures from affecting her future. The average person thinks nothing of lady gaga and she will not come back from this.
When I read the title of this thread, I didn't think it was a comparison to Beyonce's album. I thought it was asking if it was Gaga's actual 4th era. And it's kind of a question I want to to pose to monsters,
Why does Gaga consider The Fame Monster an "era" when it was an EP and not a full LP.
Katy stans don't consider The Complete Confection an era. And Rihanna stans don't consider Reloaded an era. I'm not hating. I'm genuinely asking.
'Born This Way' is cited online as being Gaga's second studio album. And 'ARTPOP' is cited as being her third studio album. I know her fans say they're her 3rd and 4th. But in my opinion, ARTPOP is only her third album/era as Lady Gaga.
ARTPOP isn't experimental. ARTPOP is her 4 in terms of underperformance, but didn't 4 did better? By like 2M?
Anyhow 4 was a good album that wasn't behind the curve, but ahead as her RnB/pop peers dwelled into Euro like club dance. ARTPOP is six years behind, and has no creative integrity as an album.
