And the Malaysia concert was meant for a general audience too before the show got reborn as a private fan concert.

It was never meant for hardcore fans. Like everyone else said, the fact she even included non singles like Let There Be Love and Bionic really was more than enough given the original audience.

That's okay though. People in the media don't talk really about that besides a footnote in passing if they do at all. And if people here think that let them. I think Christina Aguilera is actually taking care of her kid, spending quality time with him and not dumping him with the nanny 24/7 like a lot of other celebs do (hence the long breaks). Just like in the real world, having a kid usually impacts/stalls a woman's career (especially since they do the majority of the caretaking and are the ones that take time off from work). And I'm guessing there will be another long break because of her daughter. Oh well. The kids will definitely be well adjusted and she seems like an amazing mom.

I love my xtina ballads but I remember her saying once she would be bored with her career if all she did was sit and sing ballads! I think we are always gonna get a dirrty-esque single in every album and I'm cool with that! But I would love a ballad as a lead single for once

She needs a ballad as the first single this time around. I know it's not exactly the best and most exciting way to start a new era, but people associate her with powerhouse ballads and she could also get airplay from many different formats, while songs like 'YB' and 'NMT' are pop radio restricted. Then, the second single could be a mid-tempo to launch the album.

Yeah, The Hot 100 was SO messed up in the late 90s/early 2000s. It went from being a chart where physical sales were needed to even chart to one where they weren't needed to one where airplay only songs were the norm to one where urban airplay only songs could go Top 10 while songs with pop airplay only sometimes peaked in the 30s/40s all in a matter of like 4 years

So the Hot 100 during that time can be deceiving especially for pop songs which looked they did bad but were actually huge.

But Fighter Dirrty and Can't Hold Us Down definitely had Top 10 impact. If they were released a few years later or earlier under different chart systems, they would have definitely gone Top 10.

I think Just A Fool would have gone platinum easily and gone Top 15 if it had been the lead single. It could have easily pushed Lotus.

Yeah, it's time to let go of the Dirrty/Beautiful formula

You Lost Me was definitely "ahead of its time" for 2010, so it might not have done well, but if Just A Fool had been her lead single, Lotus really would have been a hit. That is such a reactive song and would have put her in the good graces of pop radio to release whatever she wanted to as the second single.

Kinda o/t, but you saw that poster in another thread trying to blame Xtina for DWUW not getting a Top 10. I had a nice laugh about that.

I think if she does do the upbeat route... It can't be that sexual. It just doesn't work. It never did in the US, and now not WW.

ANOM type upbeat is amazing.

I don't think pop radio would play a song with Blake Shelton featured, but it would be worth a shot tbh. 'Your Body' was the perfect lead single imo. I guess pop songs without crossover potential don't stand a chance to make it big anymore, but it was such an exciting song

And it remains snubbed and unperformed to this day

Amazing how she can slay electro songs like that live, mimic some of the studio effects and sound better than the original version.
