It's true, as far as mainstream releases.
ARTPOP is a literal flop.
PRISM is no
Teenage Dream. Can't think of a rap album that has had the impact of

The Heist. I think this year will be cluttered with releases from the second half of eligibility, and if
Frozen keeps slaying, it could be the first soundtrack since
O Brother, Where Are Thou? to be nominated.
We'll see how releases by Black Keys and Lana Del Rey (since she's now sorta on their radar) do.
