i wish danity kane didn't drop in sales so quickly, but at least they finally reached the OFFICIAL gold mark and can now make their slow, but deffinitely possible approach to platinum.

True, and I don't think people expect her to have an album full of good songs, whereas I feel with Leona that there was more faith due to all of the hype around her voice. People probably brush Katy off as a one hit wonder, and honestly, listening to her CD I can't imagine her having another song with even close to as much success as "I Kissed A Girl" is having

VIVA LA WEAKEND CHART PREVIEW: Capitol’s Coldplay will run away with next week’s chart; the only question involves the final total, which at this point looks like it’ll be in the 700-725k range. Universal Motown’s Lil Wayne will move another 290-315k in its second week, while Disney’s debuting Camp Rock soundtrack, featuring the Jonas Brothers, is headed toward 200-225k. From there on, the numbers revert to 2008 form. Capitol’s Now 28 should stay in six figures with 100-105k, with Usher (LaFace/ZLG) rounding out the Top 5 with 65-70k. I see that, but 315k is a far push past 300k so...and you can't assume EVERY album will drop 70%+, because not EVERY album has sold 1,000,000 copies.

FAR PUSH? LMFAO. And yes, I can assume 'every' album with HUGE sales will drop around the 70% mark the week after because that's what happens to the BIG majority of huge FIRST WEEK sellers.

According to HDD, Kanye's "Graduation" dropped 77%, and 50 ******'s album dropped 80%.

So I think Katy Perry's sales are ok considering she hasn't done anything to promote the album other than go to radios and release the video.

Actually, she'll start her national TV promotion around July,10th wich is like 3 weeks after the album came out. Obviously Capitol is no stupid, it's an strategy that many artist have been trying lately. Label is trying to keep the sales stable, with that I mean, keep the album inside the top 40/50 for the whole summer. In the week of July,10th "I Kissed A Girl" should be near to reach it's peak so this is another plus to their strategy that I do believe is gonna work out.

The Warped tour is also gonna help all this, and so far, she's getting great critics of her performance on it. So if you tell me that she's getting 50k in her first week just boosted by just PEOPLE (radio & d/l's), that's MORE than impressive for a newbie popstar. Can't wait to see when promo starts.

I guess I should add that the vid of IKA just premiered last week for TV rotation.
