Why does American Life have a bad rep? Her voice sounds better than ever and it has a lot of her strongest, most perplexing instrumentals. There's an element of anger/darkness to it that I like.
Canadian Death is literally her putting foreign political paragraphs into Google Translator and taking down the English translation as lyrics.

ARTPOP isn't really considered a flop anymore considering its sold over 3-5 million copies worldwide sure it ain't as much as Born This Way that that sold 7-9 million or The Fame that sold 10-15 million. Look at other artists who only sell 2 million copies yet they're still current cough cough Justin Bieber cough cough Selena Gomez. And based on all of the views Gaga is getting on her ARTPOP videos you can't really argue with the fact that people LOVE these songs she's coming out with.
Quite a few people walked out in the Under The Skin showing I went to. They were greasy unwashed heaux tho, probably expecting a popcorn movie. I had to tell them to shut the **** up at one point.
It really stays with you. We were creeped out and a bit dumbstruck once we got home. Great stuff.
All the major legendary beauty icons died before we saw them ugly tho. It's impossible to keep that type of image perched in your mind when you saw their decay.
