As much as I love her, the only thing that keeps me from committing to her as a #1 fave is that she doesn't have that darker edge anywhere in her discography that I find really appeals to me. Like, she has darker music and imagery in some places, but it's a different type of "dark". However, overall she's high up on my list of faves and makes some of the best pop music out there so I don't even know why I'm posting here. I'm just bored and want to discuss something in more depth than useless one-liner posts, you know?

I can't stan for her because it seems she has no talent at all, her sognwriting is a hit or miss, sometimes is fine but most of the time is just , her dancing skills are so weak I was expecting a super amazing choreo for WOA but all we had was a curtain around her... I mean Then, after all the time she has on the music industry her performances are boring as hell, seems like she has not improved a single thing since OOTB, her stage presence is practically non-existing since she does not catch up the attention during HER perfomances And tbh I like, I really do, but come on her music is average and basic at the best, it is like something everyone likes but nobody is amazed or something, aand I feel that's where her lack of critical acclaim and Grammys come from And I know I stan for Madonna and I she's not in her vocal peak right now (she's probably at her lowest) but at least I can say the ROL and Music era happened, while Katy live vocals sound like death and destruction, I know it because I went to the CDWT expecting to be surprised, and YES I was surprised to know there was someone who sing worst than Madonna during the S&SWT, Oh my God I can't explain how good the show was, but her live vocals were something I could not ignore, I mean it seems she has not improved anything (about performance) NOTHING not a little bit! Come on!

I wouldn't call her bland or not-fun at all, I find her songs to be catchy and fun while maintaining great replay value. You could argue she's not the biggest risk taker out there, yes, but what she does works well for her and I'd rather have her continue to slay me with songs like "Legendary Lovers" and "Love Me" than have her take more risks and potentially not live up to the task. Not that she couldn't live up to it - it's just that I like her most as a pure pop girl.

I heard she's transitioning more to rock or pop-rock soon, though, and that's one shift that I think will work brilliantly for her - given her material on OOTB, a gradual movement away from pop might actually serve to make her even more of a standout, unique star in the top 40 field and I can't wait to hear what she does.

She's a terrible, AWFUL songwriter, up there with Ryan Tedder in terms of lyrical ineptitude. I can't even think of another recent pop girl who's quite as bad as she is. And melodically she never seems to get it quite right unless she has another topliner looking over her shoulder.

She's also a bit boring for me. She's not compelling enough to hold my interest on songs not anchored by soaring choruses and huge hooks.

Listening to the lyrics on PRISM...it's literally a grab bag of cliche phrases and uninteresting territory explored. She's playing it safe for coins and it's too obvious for me to really enjoy as a work. I bop to some of them here and there but I would never buy the album.

Katy as a whole is just very derivative and hard to take past small 3 minute singles. That's just me though so who cares. Lots of people like her music but it's just not my thing at all.

A biT basic tbh, her songwriting, melodies and even vocal runs are predictable. @ me being able to predict how the songs went when I first listened to PRISM. Production/ beats carrying her songs (Dark Horse etc.) and she can't perform live I mean ....
