We should always remember that if not for BTW, there would be no need for her winning people back in the first place. Having said that, I agree that ARTPOP is not the freshest album ever.
Winning people back worked to some extent, though. Both singles had amazing radio support, which is something that didn't quite happen during BTW era. Applause and DWUW were good singles and the album has another few potential radio friendy hits, which is again something that cannot be said about BTW era. The album had TEOG as the most gp friendly and with the biggest potenital song, the rest is def not meant to be successful (there are some great songs though, like Bloody Mary, Scheisse, Gov Hooker and Marry The Night). Some of the songs sound too alike and are just awful, especially the bonus tracks.
ARTPOP, if handled good from the start, could be the real comeback Gaga album.
