I have no problem with the Janet stans saying Janet, but acting like Janet is the reason why Beyonce breathes is disgusting particularly when you take into account that Bey has other main influences besides Janet.

Y'all do realize that in the mid-80s, prior to Control and Rhythm Nation 1814, there were no heavy hip hop influences in popular R&B music, right? Janet made New Jack Swing a movement and started the marrying of R&B to hip hop that was taken to another level by acts like TLC, Mary J. Blige, Mariah in the early-mid 90s and later Beyonce/DC who built upon that even further with the rhythmic rap singing.
We can speculate all day about whether or not R&B and hip hop would have merged in the same way without Janet's presence, but the fact remains, Janet, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are essentially responsible for the shift of the sound of popular R&B music that took place in the 80s and continued to shift throughout the 90s.
Bey is clearly a student of many and to deny Janet's influence when Janet basically created the contemporary R&B lane that gave Bey a career in the first place is ridiculous. People love to erroneously cite Tina and Diana as the only ones to impact Bey, but listening to the music that established Bey's career:
sounds absolutely like nothing like anything ever done by Tina or Diana. But, it does sound like the grandbabies of a lot of what you hear on Control/Rhythm Nation 1814/janet. Whatever tho, I feel like folks are just going to take it to extremes to keep from feeling like Bey is somehow losing because Janet is one of the people that laid the foundation on which Bey built her career and that's not the case at all.
I'm not sure why you all continue to compare artists of today to Janet, when it's only logical to compare her to her peers.
Janet's peers are the likes of Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Prince.
Beyonce's peers are the likes of Katy Perry, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Usher.
They appear so insecure about Beyonce by comparing her to legends. You never see Janet fans comparing her to those before her. Thats because we're secure with her position. Its as if Beyonce fans need validation that shes this ubiquitous artist who slays everyone when in reality she doesn't.

Nah, I've never heard of any of those people except Beyonce. None of the others are famous in my country. Nobody talks about them on the streets, on the sidewalks, in the gutters, in the parks, in the public toilets. They must be those local artists. I bet they're not even local. They're only famous in their house. How do I know this? Cos they're not known or mentioned in mine.

I don't even know why you are quoting me.I never disputed Janet's impact, but acting like Bey would not exist without Janet is what I am against.
I feel that Janet has remained more true and proud of who she is. She never tried to "whiten" her looks. She is the music equivalent of Lupita Nyongo or Oprah.
To sit up in here and say Janet made it possible for B to be sexual on stage. Women have been sexual on stage going back to the 40s, where the hell you think Janet got it from. Also saying without Janet there wouldn't be a Beyonce. Cut the crap.

Right, because the avenues are vastly different. The impact of Janet is far more measurable than that of Diana, Aretha, or Donna because of mediums like the music video, the importance of the album, the INTERNET, among other things. The artists of the 50s - 70s didn't have that, so why even think it's logical to compare them? #OnlyOnATRL

And if we're being honest, Beyonce isn't quite popular here in my country. There's about 30 million ppl living in my country, and I, accounting for 0.00000003% of my country's population, am a representation of the general opinion of the entire living population. Thus, Beyonce is local.
Beyonce wins. Sadly. She's the inferior artist but the superior performer.
Your staement makes no sense. In your mind, if Janet's the better artist and Beyonce the better performer(lol) how does Beyonce have more cultural relevancy?

But all the other artists mentioned aren't known by the individual organs in my body. Beyonce is, so.....

etc.... Reading is fundamental and Janet isn't heavily responsible for Beyonce??? Despite all the receipt's providing the contrary. I see you not replying to anyone else when they state receipt's to back their opinions. Yet you just ramble on without any facts or through responses to defend your positions. So I take it we stand corrected
Did someone just ask if Janet Jackson has a song ad great as ****ing Single Ladies?
Yes. That song is lyrically and musically trite. She even mentions those tacky Dereon jeans in it lol like...without that video that song wouldve been left in 2008 cuz the song alone is terrible. Even her fans can admit that.
I don't even know why you are quoting me.I never disputed Janet's impact, but acting like Bey would not exist without Janet is what I am against.
Who said that Bey would not exist without Janet tho? That's precisely the point I was making -- you're taking the discussion into extremes to argue points that aren't being made.
