I find this to be beyond interesting. But I'm not falling for it. All the monsters are enjoying the good headlines, as they should but this "I'm only here for the performance art" stuff is foolishness. From her and her fans. You can be rest assured that before the end of the week her stans will be screaming for her to capitalize on the "good press". If it's all about the art, who cares about her next move right? Just curious.
The headlines are nice, yes. They aren't everything though. This "controversy" just opens an opportunity to release the music video with enough eyes watching her. No one would have cared about a MV from an artist out of the limelight for so long, especially because the song is fairly "old" now. People now want to see what she'll do next.
Its a great strategy, but I'm personally here for the opportunity to see the video now.
I stan for Gaga because she pushes pop forward. She sang about rape and re-experienced the rage and self-loathing of it in a deliberately shocking, and close to revolting way because rape is shocking and revolting.
This is the artist Lady Gaga is, and yes this is why I stan for her.
Some monsters are going to defend her no matter what. She could literally kill someone on stage and they would say that it has a deeper meaning and that it is art.
people are too quick to write off mainstream artists when it comes to art
if an irrelevant did it, people would claim it as performance art
Leonardo Da Gaga wins
This exactly. I guarantee that some people voting "No" would be agreeing that its art if Gaga had no involvement with it.
Not literally, but in a different/artistic way. The position they were sitting in, the chaotic music, the piano banging, rough movement, screaming, etc. The vomit was symbolizing the act, how it feels disgusting.
In art, performance art is a performance presented to an audience, traditionally interdisciplinary. Performance may be either scripted or unscripted, random or carefully orchestrated; spontaneous or otherwise carefully planned with or without audience participation. The performance can be live or via media; the performer can be present or absent. It can be any situation that involves four basic elements: time, space, the performer's body, or presence in a medium, and a relationship between performer and audience. Performance art can happen anywhere, in any venue or setting and for any length of time. The actions of an individual or a group at a particular place and in a particular time constitute the work.
You don't have to like it, you can have whatever opinion you want about it, but that doesn't change what it is. Art is not an adjective, and its not saying anything about the quality of it. It's a noun.
