Honey, there are better performances than most Oscar winners, so that is just beating a dead horse. Most people there win because of narratives - like Matt McConaughey winning because he lost a ton of weight and has decided to make Oscar-baity films over his usual romcoms. It's rarely ever about the actual best performance, but Cate didn't really have narrative. Critics just loved her performance, hence why she swept up every award for a performance that was more acclaimed than the film itself.

Yet the delayed and obvious 2 time Oscar winner has 2 Terrence Malick movies to come out.

Was Cate's performance more acclaimed? I was rooting for Cate to win over Sandra, Meryl and Amy even though I prefer them but once I saw Adele that changed. Obviously she and the movie never stood a chance with the Academy (I doubt members even watched it). I didn't even get a screener for it and I got screeners for literally every movie. Did they even campaign?

I mean the movie did make history at Cannes because of the quality of her performance.

Luckily the Woody Allen drama that happened after the release didn't hurt her chances. They barely clapped for him when she mentioned him. She deserved to win though.
