Paul McCartney makes Billboard's 'Rich List' of music money makers
Paul McCartney was among the 40 music celebrities who were named to Billboard's “The Rich List,” released March 7 in the March 15 issue of the magazine.
McCartney ranked 21st with $13,769,479.16, which the magazine says was earned with $13 million in concert revenues from his “Out There!” tour of ballparks and arenas and sales of 235,000 copies of his “NEW” album, released last October. (See our full list of stories covering the release of "NEW" here.)
Two of the Beatles' contemporaries made the top 10. The Rolling Stones rolled into #5 with $26,225,121.71, thanks to touring and their greatest hits release “Grrr!” Fleetwood Mac was at #10 with $19,123,101.98 because of their world tour and the release of new studio material on “Extended Play.”
At the top of the list was Taylor Swift with $39,699,575.60, with Kenny Chesney right behind at #2. Also on the list were Justin Timberlake at #3, Bon Jovi at #4, Justin Bieber at #11, One Direction at #13, Michael Buble at #17, Mumford and Sons at #18, The Eagles at #22, Celine Dion at #24, Elton John at #33 and Rush at #35.
The magazine said the list was compiled from information using Nielsen SoundScan, Nielsen BDS and Billboard Boxscore with revenue from concerts, record sales, publishing royalties and digital streaming
