'Vogue' was fairly controversial because it was so steeped in gay culture, and obviously that wasn't very popular in 1990 with some people. But it wasn't as abrasive as say, 'Like a Prayer' or 'Justify My Love'.

But the point Wendy was making is that Madonna 'latched' onto Voguing (which is crap anyway 'cuz Madonna used to hang with Willi Ninja and the House of Xtravaganza, but I digress) and it's the same as 'latching' onto Miley Cyrus.
