Sadly being an artist doesnt get much money, I'd rather do it as a side hobby

Not always though, i would say it is even harder now since Post modernism is basically every art form rehashed to describe the issues of Modern society and therefore are less likely to be noticed since nothing "new" is being created.

And during impressionism and post impressionism, most artists rejected common notions that was perceived as art and lived in poverty. Monet and Vangogh became famous after death
