Britney Spears shamelessly put out her "most personal album" in the wake of ADELE, featuring the love ballad Perfume (touted as having "career-best vocals") while calling it her Ray of Light and simultaneously riding the Scream&Shout/EDM trend
and cross-promoting with Vegas and got outsold by Avril Lavigne.
She had one card left (her hitmakers) and Katy took it away.
