I'm so sick of yall saying this tired ass ****, WHEN black actresses do worthy roles they don't get nominated for the WHITE AWARDS because they are chosen by WHITE MEN who have lived a WHITE EXPERIENCE and couldn't care less about anything outside of what they know. Not so surprising when you consider that 94% Oscar-voting members are white, and 77% of them male.
The first and most obvious example being Angela Bassetts iconic portrayal of Tina Turner in
Whats Love Got To Do With It?
Waiting To Exhale
Box office $81,452,156
Dreamgirls
Box office $154,852,975[2]
Set It Off ($9 million budget)
Box office $41,590,886
Akeelah & The Bee ($8 million budget)
Box office $18,948,425
And let's not pretend that academy award winning films are box office smashes in the first place because THEY ARE NOT, in fact, most of them are flops and are awarded on "talent".
Let us not.
