I think it was more the suggestion of Jay-Z signing this young girl from the middle of nowhere and her coming right behind Beyoncé and kind of snatching her wig for a while than them actually sleeping together that created the competition between fanbases.

Beyoncé stans and Rihanna stans don't like each other because Jay-Z created Rihanna, sorry if that point got lost somewhere.
