I wouldn't say that's the case really. They're plenty of huge local artists like Ilse Delange, Marco Borsato, Anouk, Caro Emerald etc. They sell better than most global stars
Global stars/non Dutch music is more popular amongst the younger generation tho, don't know why really, that's just the way it is. I personally don't like Dutch music either
