Bottom line is Taylor Swift is a successful woman who made her way in the industry not by a tv show, not by trying to be sexy, not by controversy, but by music itself. This has paid off with multiple grammies, amongst other awards. Not to mention her reputation as a down to earth sweet heart, reaffirmed by any person who actually meets her. Voted the most charitble celebrity almost every year since 2007 I believe. Donates huge sums of money to cancer research, Music education and the country music hall of fame amongst other things. Yet the only thing people fixate on is that shes had 6 boyfriends in 8 years and wrote songs about them and maybe 3 or 4 of them were a bit harsh in an honest way. And I think that shows what people focus on when women are on top in the industry. People automatically assume that when she acts humble during award shows shes being fake. Or when shes very happy to win an award thats annoying. Maybe some people should ask themselves why anothers happiness "annoys" them?
Robin Thicke can have naked girls dance around in his music video treating them like objects and anyone who complains is an over the top feminist. Taylor Swift can go on one of two dates with guys and she gets bashed. Its actually disgusting. Taylor Swift is the reason I identify as a feminist.

Its internalized sexism and its so prevalent in the media and theyre just egging it on. You make a racist joke you'll be called out on it (hopefully), make a homophobic joke you'll be called out on it (hopefully), But tell a woman she needs to go back in the kitchen and no one bats an eye.
The basic idea is that it seems as though either media or people in general do not like to see women on top for one reason or another. If said woman on top doesnt make some sort of mistake (rehab, getting beat up, controversal etc.) the media will make one up for them.
I see the same thing happening to Jennifer Lawrence which is sad. Shes attached to this huge franchise, seems to be a good role model and doesnt really do much wrong to piss people off. Yet now I see people turning on her, especially after winning the GG. Apparently her acting humble is "fake" Taylor teas. Pretty soon people are going to want to watch her fall for whatever reason. Shes a bit overrated but shes pretty talented and didn't do anything to deserve that from anyone.

People just get jealous of Taylor because she wins at everything. She is the best selling American artist of the past half-decade and it's not even close. She got there by writing her own material while being on a startup independent record label, so she owes none of her success to being given songs by other influential song-writers or being on an influential label. Taylor is the youngest person to write a no 1 song on the US Country charts. The youngest person to win Album of the Year at the Grammy's. The last person who will ever solo-write an album that goes 4 Platinum in the US.
Taylor is the only artist selling huge numbers of albums and concert tickets consistently these days and also getting criticial acclaim and numerous awards.
Taylor has
a) the recent record for most albums sold in opening week
b) the best selling album in the US released since 2012, and it's not even close
c) the biggest grossing tour in North America in 2013
d) Red got nominated for AOTY at the Grammy's, plus Best Country Album at the Grammy's. Also ACMs and CMAs also gave it nominations for Best Album last year.
e) a Golden Globe nomination for a side project
f) special recognition from the CMAs for her career achievements
g) she is only just 24
That's gonna breed resentment from fans of other artists who have achieved none of these things and will never do so.
Throw in the fact that she is friends with plenty of other famous people and you can see why folks get jealous. Also some little kids get jealous because she dates some people they have crushes on.

Let's face it, the only time Harry will be featured on stage at the Grammy's is when Taylor mentions him.

Dont forget shes seen as a conventionally attractive woman.
Women like Adele or Pink who arent seen as "attractive" or "feminine" by the gp gamer more respect.
Oh look at Pink! She has short hair! Shes tough! Shes like one of the guys! Awesome!
Oh look at Taylor, shes feminine/girly. No.
Why are masculine traits given more respect or value than feminine ones? Why is a girl with masculine traits praised but a boy with maybe some feminine traits scorned?
Another thing is these 2 girls are married/in long term relationships
Another problem I have with the gp is they seem to value a girl more when shes next to a man.
Beyonce sings about explicit sex in Paritition and Drunk in Love amongst other songs and shes highly praised yet Rihanna does the same thing and shes a skank.
So again, why is a married woman/ a woman committed to a man given more value than a single one. Not to mention one whose attained all her success by herself?
If you really look closely at the media you really see how men truly run the world and its pretty sad.

Yes to all of this. "Feminists" say that the reasons Taylor won all those grammies was because she was conservative and feminine (which old white men love) and that Lady Gaga is pushing the envelope and deserves it instead. Yes Taylor was more conservative, especially in the Fearless Era but look at all she's achieved for a woman in the industry? Hell for any artist any gender. Not too mention that she takes her career in her own hands.

Shes not even that conservative. Its not like she sings about how everyone needs to be chaste and pure and praise Jesus.
She just sings about her life and whatever she wants without feeling the need to sexually appeal to men in order to be successful. She doesnt look at herself like a sexual court jester just to entertain the men.

I don't get this thing with "Feminism" I mean, I thought it had to do with a woman being able to do anything in the world without a man's permission or with freedom of choice and being on equal terms. But, what gets me, is that showing skin seems to be equated with this feminism in the music industry. Like Miley or Beyonce are suppose to be feminists because they show their sexuality, but Taylor doesn't, so she is apparently not a feminist. But, the logic doesn't make sense. Yes, sexualism is part of feminism and "maleism for that matter, but if you don't feel comfortable showing it or don't want to show it, then that does not make you any less a woman. Yes, I understand the difference in meaning between what old white conservative men think (that is one view of feminism - a traditional view), but, I am talking about the feminists of Today that carry it beyond what it really means. I don't know, because I am not a woman, but I am just giving an opinion. But, I do believe that women should have the same power as men and be as equal as men as well. If they fight hard for their success, like Taylor, then good for them.

Exactly. Feminism is basically just both sexes are equal in all aspects. A woman is allowed to go on stage fully dressed and sing her song just like 99% of the men going on stage fully dressed.
And if she really wants to she can be provacative, its her choice.
But the weird thing is if either of those options were to be criticized (neither should tbh) why is it being fully dressed just like the men? Taylor doesnt feel the need to please the hetero men's sexuality. She just wants to perform her damn song she should be allowed to do that without batting an eye. Shes not criticizing anyone for doing otherwise.
I feel like this world and media are all centered around sexually arousing straight men.
Just look at almost any movie trailer geared towards men. Sure they may explain the plot, but what scenes do they show? The sex scenes and the violent scenes. Very primitive forms of entertainment and stimulation for heterosexual men

And actually, Taylor is just being the real deal. She doesn't have to be fake to be real. She is an artist first and not an exhibitionist. She want's us to see her soul and not her skin.

I always love to point out that her first single was about "just a boy in a Chevy truck
that had a tendency of gettin' stuck on backroads at night". She wasn't asexual, just not explicit. They also try to say she was ****shaming in YBWM mv. I always thought she was playing up the "nerdy girl-next-door vs. glamorous popular girl".
