That's actually sad because it's been proven that boycotting brands who display homophobia or any kind of hatred can make a change. Barilla, Lululemon and Ambercrombie's companies all lost profit after their ignorant comments/hatred was exposed and they've had to restaff many higher-up positions to regain their respective market share.

We all know individuals have their own opinions, but it is never necessary to bring those into their public brands. Liam attached, whether intentionally or unintentionally, the stigma of homophobia onto his brand, One Direction now just like those companies did for no reason. And it's perfectly acceptable, if not socially responsible, for the supporters of said problem to voice their problem with it should they have one.

Even if you aren't, growing up in that sort of environment probably gives anyone a distorted sense of what's appropriate to say or not being LGBT. So what seems perfectly fine to you would not fly to a lot of other people in the Western world.

Literally every politician, pundit, or other public figure who has ever opposed gay marriage has done so under the guise of being in favor of "family values." It's a euphemism that's been used for well over a decade now. It's possible it was just a coincidence, because in theory "family values" should encompass other things than being anti-gay marriage, but it rarely has, especially when it comes to discussing families as conservative and backwards as the ones on that show.
